Goh Chok Tong warn Aljunied voters not to gamble with their future

Former Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong warned Aljunied voters not to gamble with their future by referring the Opposition parties as a casino ship with no definitive destination today (Sept 6). The 74 year old PAP candidate for Marine Parade GRC said that his ruling party is like a cruise ship with a destination and blast the Opposition for being “exciting” but with no goals.
“If you go with the PAP, you are actually embarking on a cruise ship with a definite destination. You know the destination, you know the journey, the path taken by the cruise ship. You know the captain, the crew members, you know the quality. The other choice you’re given is take my cruise ship, I’m going to nowhere. You know there are cruise ships that go on a journey to nowhere. These are gambling ships, very exciting. You take my ship, you can gamble but go no where, just go round and round and so on.
The point I’m making is there’s a choice for yourself. If you’re a gambler, then of course you take the casino ship. If you’re not a gambler and worry about your children’s future, then you will take the other ship. Elections is about your choice, your future.”

Goh Chok Tong also told Aljunied voters that they don’t have to vote the Workers’ Party to have a voice in Parliament because there is always a NCMP scheme. He also claimed that with the NCMP scheme, Aljunied voters do not need the Workers’ Party to manage their town council but they will continue to have a strong voice in Parliament:
“They tell us quite openly that they want to support the PAP, but at the same time they are afraid. Vote for PAP, and Workers’ Party will be out. And therefore there will be no more opposition party, led by Mr Low Thia Khiang and Ms Sylvia Lim, in Parliament. If, lets say, they lose the election, you don’t have to run the town council. The voice can still be as strong as before in Parliament.
So in fact Workers’ Party candidates can have their cake and eat it. Have a voice in Parliament and they do not have to run the town council. They’re more free to write more great speeches, to make more great rhetoric in Parliament.”
