SINGAPORE — Nearly two weeks after he was arrested for the murder of his pregnant wife, former property agent Teo Ghim Heng was brought back to his Woodlands flat on Friday (Feb 10) afternoon for a crime scene reenactment.

Teo, clad in a red polo T-shirt and blue checkered shorts, was cuffed at the wrists and ankles. The 41-year-old looked downcast as he walked towards the sixth floor unit at Block 619 Woodlands Drive 52, where the charred bodies of his wife and four-year-old daughter were discovered by the police on the first day of the Chinese New Year.
He made no comments except to mumble, in English, when asked by the police which keys to use to enter his flat. The media was not allowed to enter the flat as the reenactment was carried out.
From outside the flat, two cans of milk powder, a box of cigarettes and some money could be seen on a table in Teo's living room.
According to court documents, Teo's wife, Mdm Choong Pei Shan, 39, was allegedly killed eight days before her body, as well as that of her four-year-old daughter, Teo Zi Ning, was found on Jan 28.
Mdm Choong was six months pregnant. The investigation into the death of Teo Zi Ning is ongoing.
Neighbours who noticed their absence thought the family had gone away on a holiday, until police turned up at the Teos’ sixth-storey flat. Both mother and daughter were pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. Teo was arrested on the same day and charged with the murder of his wife two days later.
Teo's immediate neighbours did not seem to notice his return to the crime scene on Friday. But a group of about 20 nearby residents gathered to watch Teo being escorted back into a police van at the end of the 45-minute enactment.
He is expected to appear in court again on Monday (Feb 13). If convicted of murder, Teo faces the death penalty.
