I can't answer on behalf of the webmaster why, but XQ did show me her actual wechat text on her phone to the webmaster asking for the change, and the reply was (in chinese)... NEVERMIND LAH (Oh ya... in fact, she texted the webmaster to change TWICE. Once in Jan and another time in Feb. Did tell her to text the webmaster again and be more firm about it.)
I believe dishonest or cheating was never her intent. Chill.
