I think those reviewers are sometimes left by people who don't look asian and got rejected. If you can look and act like a Japanese, the girl will likely accept your additional business. I politely asked if they accepted foreigners at first (in jap) and guess that's good to break the ice.
Anyway it's good to have a backup plan by researching a few other shops in the vicinity. Since those shops tend to be together in the RLD, can quickly walk over to other shops and try your luck. Can gain access to more choices this way.
