I was tinkin of recommending hotel 18 for him to hse his girl there 4 a mth stay but tis kind of thg better not anyhw recommend,cos if kena problem then die.

The girl can always rent kos for about 600,000rp per month. But, for 2 person sharing though. Only con is that he can't stay in the kos when he visit the girl.

In case you havent already notice,with more passengers taking the business/VIP class from Horizon to the extend they increase the price of those seats by 20% within about a year since its launch (from S$8 to S$10),its a no brainer that those who took horizon has no problem spending to have the above average.

Mariott isnt the only hotel that is gonna cost hundreds of SGDs. Look at the current iHotel at Nagoya (not the one at baloi/penuin area),it is already S$100 over for a night stay during a super non-peak days (in the past,it was around S$200). And there is also Nagoya Hotel which is about those amount and a few others.

(weekends,peak time can cost about S$200+ and super peak time around S$300+ and i am not surprise if its S$1k+)

Now,we look at their occupancy rate,if Formosa/Da Vienna/Gideon/Biz has less than 50% occupancy rate on a non-peak,how do you think the ihotel Nagoya and Nagoya Hotel would fare? Probably lesser. (formosa hotel can cost S$456 per night stay for deluxe room during CNY 2014 as in my record,S$1k+ for Harris Resort) I will not forget,during X'mas ,New Year,CNY season,in agoda,booking.com and some other hotel booking sites,i only have one page choice of hotel to choose from (normal day at least 5 to 7 choice pages) and those 1 page choices of hotels were mostly 1 star or 2 stars hotels. Where's all the 3 stars and above hotels in those seasons?

So,for marriot hotel,my guess is their price shouldnt be too far from ihotel Nagoya or Nagoya Hotel (or they might just self-destruct themselves). Ok,lets assume i am wrong,Marriot would at best be double iHotel Nagoya and Nagoya Hill Hotel in terms of pricing. We then look at their occupancy rate. Unless it is super ultra peak,Marriot would unlikely to hit even 50% occupancy rate regularly.(my guess)

And about rich tourist spending on things they like,everyone 'splurge and stinge' differently,hehehe...

There will undoubtedly be more wealthier people coming from Harbour Bay and to Nagoya area (and via other ferry terminals from,Sekupang, Nongsa and Harris Resort etc too). In fact,with or w/o Marriot Hotel,there will still be more wealthier tourists coming to Batam as the Indo government is pushing for tourism around the Riau islands. More hotels that are already up in Batam proves it,latest addition to the neighborhood is a 2 star hotel called Batam Harbour Hotel priced at S$50 onward (inside Harbour Bay itself,which i will be doing a small write out later).

More UAE,Taiwanese,Korean and China tourists were spotted in Batam today too. i am also surprise to see more bule on the ferry as well on my Sept trip.

Now,observe closely the next time you take a ferry from Sillypore to Batam,in the ferry,how many of them were Malaysians,Indonesian and Sillyporean,and then look at how many non-indonesian,non-Sillyporean,non-Malaysians there are. Maybe becos i am Sillyporean,hence i could tell out of 10 passengers in a ferry ride to Batam,i see at most time at least 7 Malaysians/Sillyporean/Indonesians. Likely 2 tourists from other parts of Asia and maybe 0.5 - 1 were from Bule land. (however i do notice a higher number of bule recently and most time,in an all-guy 2-3 person group)

Another thing i observe on the people who are willing to spend more than the current market rate ,they were not people coming to Batam regularly. I take my part time boss as an example,he only appears in Batam twice or at best thrice a year in Batam,he tipped overnight girls from S$100 onward after their session and thats not counting their booking fee,tips for mami in KTV and waiter/waitress. And he still consider it 'dirt cheap'. There are just many kinds of monger in this world.

For me,a girl can quote 10 million rupiah,if there is only minimum taker or likely no takers at all,it means she has no or minimum business to deal with.Of course in the event if there's taker,will it be an everyday thing then? I highly doubt so.

On the same ground,a girl can quote 3 million rupiah,it would be up to the one she approach to bring the price down thru bargaining the price to his comfortable level. Thats the indo business culture,trying to convince and to bargain with each other that they are offering the best price,best service etc. Those who dont bargain,will have to pay the extra top-up price/s quoted by the "seller" meant for "buyer" to bargain down.

When the girl/s says,"because this is what I got many times from foreign tourists",does she actually mean "most bule foreign tourists"? Becos most Bule dont really bargain in Batam,something i noticed over the last 2 years+. Or i put it in another way instead of calling it 'bargaining',most bule may not know HOW to bring the price down (especially those who just started Batam).

How do i know the market rate in a particular area. I approach the fattest,ugliest and oldest girl i see (in the beginning when i wrote my 1st few summaries),check their prices and service level out. I do the same for the prettiest,sexiest and youngest girl later. In between and/or lower should be close to their average rate,and it also has to depend on the time of the day/night, season of the year and places too (which i closely observe in my summaries and online info whenever i read back). i will have a better understanding if i gotten myself a good deal.

I am standing more onto a 'cewek shopper' view to see things and you may not concur (becos you are 1 of Batam's better 'cewek huntsmen' from my point of view,hehehe...). I check hotel pricing online at least once a month. I also keep a record of Kaha and An Shun travel agency hotel pricing too.

My concern is,how much will Marriott wish to price their room when they are situated at Nagoya? Will it be somewhere around the below?

...which is currently Batam highest priced for a non-peak season.

But more importantly,are they targeting the same type of people? (Mongers,businessmen,simple tourist,workers,families etc)

Coincidentally, I just had a one-day staycation with my family at Planet Holiday Hotel yesterday, checked out this afternoon.

Room Type: Deluxe Room
Price: S$81 inclusive of 2 breakfast, booked via Hotels.com (Kaha's pricing was 780k, so I went for Hotels.com rate to earn points)

POSITIVE POINTS
1. Room size is fairly big at 36 square meters with a small balcony
2. Bathroom decent-sized with bathtub; water pressure good with abundance of hot water
3. Aircon is strong
4. Pool facilities are good- decent sized pool for adults, small kids' pool, 2 fairly big hot water jacuzzis, plus a sauna, steam room, table tennis room and gym all located within the same area. All these facilities are also available to non-hotel guests, at a rate of RP55k per pax per entry. Those residing in Batam can also sign up for monthly/yearly membership (there's a yoga room next to the pool and when I was there at 6pm, can see some Indo Chinese SYTs coming for their yoga class.. )
5. For those cheongsters, u get your fixes right in the same building with Planet KTV at levels 2 & 4, Planet Disco and F1 Pub at Level 1. Plenty of FLs around, but do be wary of any scams etc. However, elevator access to the guestroom floors are all key-controlled, so that is good for security as it helps to minimiser honey-trap schemes (but some cheongsters may not like this cos that means they will have to pick up their girls at the lobby if they ordered for delivery)
6. Close proximity to NED area; hotel is just a 3-5 mins walk to NED, Harmoni Hotel (Noname pub), Kaha, Sport Massage. 10 min walk to Goldbird
7. The Korean restaurant (Arirang) is very good, probably the best in Batam. Pricing not cheap though, but the portion sizes are huge. Ordered 4 dishes (thought the portions will be small) and ended up with half the food unfinished. Cost of dinner was RP900k
8. Offers free scheduled shuttle buses to Nagoya Hill and BCS on Fridays-Sundays.

NEGATIVE POINTS
1. Wifi in room not super strong, but acceptable. Will rate at 6/10
2. Breakfast buffet was so-so only. Decent selection available (6.5/10), but taste-wise, I would rate 5/10.
3. In-room dining menu cost fairly high for batam hotel standards. Expect to pay about 90k for the likes of nasi goreng or 100k for sup buntut. I order tomyum soup, lasagna & club sandwich for lunch yesterday and the bill was 280k
4. The very loud music and the powerful bass from the disco is quite evident even though my room was on the 10th floor. Started at 10pm and went on all the way till 4am. Sure to keep those light sleepers awake, so better ask for higher floors (guest rooms are up till 19th floor I think, then a restaurant and bar at 20th & 21st floor)


Overall, I would rate my stay at 6.8/10 based on a family-trip point of view.
