Re: Hanoi

Will be going to Hanoi next week and staying at this asean hotel.. and bro out there have any idea about this hotel?

Had read up some of the older post on this thread, seem like Boss at Fortuna Hotel is more suitable for non-experience player..

Or any better recommendation?

Any good massage place to recommend?

Re: Hanoi

Hi Bro txy80,

Well it depends on are you going alone or with local ppl?

If you are alone/with a group of foreigners, and dun mind the steep prices, just want to bring some gal back for a bang, then Fortuna or Hanoi hotel is the one for you.

If you have local ppl with you, ask them to bring you to local joints, cheaper and more fun if you go to the right one.

For massage, what kind of massage are you looking at? Clean? Special?
The hotstone massage at Kingston club is pretty ok, with special ending too. Located at old quarters, go check it out if you are interested.

To add on,..

If u are alone and try to take taxi and ask taxi driver to bring u to local joints... u will certainly end up in Black shops and pay a much more expensive price than Hanoi Hotel/Fortuna.

By the way, Kingston Club gives a "Happy Ending.." and not a "Special Ending..". In Hanoi 95% of massage places provides a "Happy Ending.." so there is nothing special about it.

Re: Hanoi

Hi Bro's
i'm going to hanoi for the first time and many of the information provided here is really useful.

but now i'm in a quandry, my customer's arranging my hotel, and they gave me Hanoi Hotel and Sunny Hotel to choice.

I know hanoi hotel is where the fun's at but what about sunny hotel?
any advise if it's also similar? because it seems quite "Boring" from its website.

of course there are such places in Hanoi. You just have to read back in this thread and find out how to ask. {hint} you will not get any answers from me by asking this way!

Re: Hanoi

Was in Hanoi yesterday, went to Oasis hotel for massage.. took 2hr VIP package at USD30.. girl disappointing.. communication was bad.. totally cannot understand.. chicken n duck talk.. come to HJ.. tips ard 300k-500k VND.. want to nego also difficult.. end up pay 500k as not to waste time negotiating.. thinking nt worth sia. Abt to leave the place, spoke to counter staff and realised we can choose girl for the package we opted.. NB.. never say early.. In the night, we went to Fortuna Boss KTV ard 9+ and was already full house. If any bros heading there, do go early. Managed to find a table in the hall. Live band was good and plenty of gals selection. Price abit steep.. just to get girl to seat is USD55 and plus tabao i assume ST USD100-150.. too much for us n end up went to low end KTV nearby, cheap but lousy quality. In the end, no kangtao.

2nd day, went oasis hotel for massage again.. took the same package.. and this time we smart liao, we asked to choose and the staff brought us to their resting area.. pay him tip abt 20k.. quality was good.. i've choosen no. 42.. very fair, slim and pretty. Best of all, can communicate. She can speaks Mandrian. Worthwhile to pay her 500k tips for HJ. Left the place happy.

Re: Hanoi

Tasting dishes of rustic tofu
==========================================
Dau hu chien (deep fried tofu) is a rustic but very popular dish in Hanoi. Tofu is a vegetarian food recommended as a good source of calcium, protein and iron.

Tofu is made by coagulating soy milk and then pressing the resulting curds into soft, white blocks. There are many different varieties of tofu, including fresh and processed.

You can buy fresh tofu, then cut it into square pieces and put them into hot oil on the fire until it becomes bloating, crispy and turns yellow. You can also mix it with corn flour to make it more yellow and attractive. Traditionally, Hanoians enjoy it with mam tom (shrimp paste or sauce) and many kinds of aromatic vegetables such as culantro, lettuce, perrilla, Thai basil and fish mint and bun (rice noodles).

For who cannot eat mam tom due to its strange texture and unusual smell can enjoy it with soya sauce and chili. To make it not too monotonous, diners can eat with fresh bitter melon and salted, shredded pork. Remember to cut butter melon into small pieces and put them into the fridge some minutes before the meal to make it less bitter and crispy. The light bitterness of melon, fragrance of tofu, sweetness of pork, salt of soya sauce and hot chili sees most diners enjoy this rustic dish.

Some people make the dish more attractive and modern by putting sesame, green onion and ginger into the tofu to make it more fragrant. Another option is to fry tofu with salted eggs or seaweed.

If you have time on your hands, you can use tofu in a number of tasty dishes such as steamed tofu with tomato, lemon grass and chili or tofu stuffed with minced pork, mushroom and fried rice noodles. To make it into soup, it is not difficult; most Vietnamese people make tofu soup with shallot leaves or tomato.

Popular in Vietnam and on sale from vendors is dau hu nuoc duong gung (soft tofu with ginger, sugar and water) which is eaten as a desert or snack. It is also easy to make. You use unsweetened soy milk combined with agar-agar and topped with a generous helping of syrup that has been flavored with slightly spicy and aromatic ginger and sugar.

Re: Hanoi

Four different paths in Hanoi
=======================================
Backpackers, nature lovers, history buffs and luxury travelers will all find themselves at home in Hanoi.

For backpackers:

Hanoi Hostel is a brand new, pristine little youth hostel. The receptionists are young and helpful, always ready to help with a smile and a complimentary bottle of water or cup of coffee. Choose between a private room with two beds, or a dorm bed for US$5 per night. Whatever you choose, your room will be clean, well furnished, decorated, and equipped with an air-conditioner.

You will enjoy a welcoming dining room where you can bring your own dinner or lunch, and sip on a free flow of tea or coffee all day long. A good breakfast is also included in the price of your room, and free beer from 6 to 7 p.m.

The hostel boasts free access to computers with Internet, and an English-speaking staff who can arrange tours, bicycle rental, or laundry, and give you any advice and information you need.

This is the best value for money in the capital and the friendliest place we visited in Hanoi.

For history buffs:

The Queen Hotel is a charming old Hoi An-style house, complete with beautiful red Chinese lanterns. The hall is full of imaginative unusual decorations, like a collection of original old French motorbikes, stone paintings, a stone bridge that crosses a real stream, a piano... You go from surprise to surprise.

This hotel has been designed by its owner, Dang Duc Thuc, a local architect. It is a family run hotel, with six people on staff.

The bedrooms are large and comfortable, with waxed wooden floors, typical Vietnamese decorations and beautiful furniture inspired by traditional woodworking from the Vietnamese countryside. This hotel has 10 bedrooms on seven floors (with an elevator), and is often full during high season, so book in advance. The 8th floor boasts a lovely garden.

For $55 you get all this, plus a good breakfast and an English-speaking staff.

For nature lovers:

If you are tired of the noise, the traffic and the crowds, if you want to take a rest away from the city, then go 40 km west of Hanoi, to “La Ferme du Colvert,” a nature resort nestled among rice paddies and tea plantations in a small village.

This is a unique place with different looking houses, all around a lake and a swimming-pool. You can choose the style of your room based on how many people you need to accommodate (from two to 10 per room) and what kind of decoration and furniture you like. Wherever you stay, it will be quiet, comfortable and well furnished.

For leisure, you can go for a walk around the farm and discover the landscape and people, visit the surrounding area by bike with resort staff members, go to the swimming pool, boat on the lake, or request special excursions like the Muong market, a visit to a spa, cyclo riding, children’s activities and bread baking. Enjoy your meals around the swimming pool in the summer or next to the fireplace in the winter.

For luxury lovers

The Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel is a dream right in Hanoi’s old quarter, a short walking distance from historical sites and from Hoan Kiem Lake. The old wing is inspirited by classical French architecture, and the Opera wing is more contemporary. It has a long tradition as a luxury venue for prestigious events, and it has hosted many famous people.

Would you enjoy staying in one of the legendary suites named after famous former residents like Graham Green or Charlie Chaplin? Besides a beautiful luxury bedroom with colonial style furniture, enjoy the swimming-pool, the spa, and different restaurants. Le Beaulieu serves classical French food thanks to the talented chef de cuisine Denis Groison. Great Vietnamese food can be found at Spices Garden, while creative and colorful Italian cooking is served at Angelina with live music every evening.

After dinner, go to the lounge to enjoy a jazz performance, or relax by the pool at the Bamboo bar and have a snack at La Terrasse. The next morning, creative juices and smoothies are the signatures of the breakfast menu.
