let's say u bring a female friend (non-WL) up to ur room b4 9pm, will they knock on ur door and invite her to leave when it's time?
also, I gather that it is illegal for the female friend to be registered as a hotel guest if we are not legally married?
I asked this cuz I am meeting a female ex-colleague, who's a viet national, in hcm soon and I booked a room at majestic Saigon (supposedly 4.5*).
does this rule apply nationwide in Vietnam?
my apologies for asking all these noob qns - 1st trip to vietnam

Q.Tan Phu a bit far lol...i presume majority of the samsters here will stay in Q.1 hotels...the taxi fare to n fro probably cost much more then the lau de (mutton hotpot) lol...

there is one also not bad mutton hotpot in Q.1 which is within 5 mins from the place we last had kopi

3 vbs stay at Q Tan phu. One friend rode motor bike brought me to find the girls because they stayed there, after that proceeded to family karaoke near by.

in general...all non girl friendly hotels will apply this rule...

- any girl will have to deposit her ID at the reception counter
- if not legally married, the girl can only be in your room from 7am to 9pm
- after 9pm the reception will keep calling your room to inform you to get your girl out telling you nicely the girl cannot stay (after 30 mins they will knock on your room to ensure girl leave)
- all hotels will have to lodge with local district police the guest list by 11pm daily

in fact if you own or rent an apartment/house...owner has to lodge with the local district police the list of occupants in apartment/house...only short term visit less than 1 week do not need to lodge with local district police...

above is just what I had learned...anyone have anything to add or comment...please do so...

My experience a few years ago is probably a rare exception - but at around midnight, I had "ordered up" on the phone a girl highly recommended by her "sister" who was working in a Macau sauna.

I was staying at a 5-star D1 hotel in HCMC and she arrived within 15 minutes; She told me that many girls know the ways and the people at the hotel who would accommodate ways around the restrictions you outlined.

Was probably NOT the best decision in my life, as I could have easily opened myself to problems (LE action, blackmail/extortion etc??), but just wanted to respond to your invitation for comments.

but I think for my 1st trip to hcm, better play it safe as I just changed to a new job and don't want to kena any trouble escalating to my company. hahaha!

I think next time I will arrange a rendezvous outside of vietnam

LOL - IMHO not that onerous in HCMC and non-girl-friendly hotels are usually limited to the 4 star and above ones; lower grade hotels usually no problems.

Why don't you nicely introduce yourself to Hurricane88 who's a font of Vietnam wisdom or even engage the services of mutantchicken if you want to enjoy yourself whilst in HCMC. Just a suggestion.
