Bro, i was browsing thru the earlier parts of this thread and saw that you went for Viet language lessons....how was it?

You think worth it or not? All this while i self learn but seems that will always get stuck after some time.(cos no new words from msgs or conversations with ba xa)

does going for lessons helps a lot?

Going for Viet class teaches you the correct pronunciation, tonal markings...And proper way of addressing different people. I attended it for the certificate...As a sense of achievement. Actually more than 70% of the basic course syllabus we (for our levels) should know by now. Hence, taking the exam was a breeze as I completed in 5 minutes. Not trying to boast here, but with people of the calibre like Jackbl, Kangtuo and you etc. I reckon would complete it in under 4 minutes.

To build up your new vocabulary, since no new msgs with baxa, I suggest you going to get more "co giaoSSS" to improve further. That's what I'm doing...And for those words which I don't understand I would revert to my baxa to explain. How do I explain that I have new vocabulary each time? I just said that there's a thread online to improve Vietnamese...

Also, more "co giaoSSS" means more chances for exchange of bodily fluids, which in turn would "deepen" our understanding of the Vietnamese culture. For instance, I already acquired some tips for enhancing performance while having "bedroom golf" sessions...And with this I can impart to my baxa. 一石很多鸟 right??

aiya...the time used is irrelevant...its the intensity and the frequency you used it that is important... like you said, outside co giaos are the real times i improve...cos my ba xa quite reluctant to teach too much....so em hoc tieng viet di kiem con gai ma!!! hahahaha

leran from amny cp giaossss.....Dangerous leh.
recently i just sms my girlfriend in vn. She called me and say how come i sms differently already.
example:
1) I used to sms "ok"... now i sms her "Uh".
2) bx dang lam gi becomes bx dag lam j
3) the eglish word "but"... use to be "ma" now i use "nhung"

hahaha....be careful wor!! if me i also suspect la...haha such a big change...but then you can tok cork say learn from viet loving buddies lor...say we got one group always msg each other in tieng viet then some of them use like that then you learn lor..haha

Greeting to all bro, when i reach hcmc, my viet level has sunk to Level 0, most sentences they said i dun understand more than 50%.... Sorry KT, pls dun address me as THAY GIAO, i felt shy, even myself cant survived the "storm" here... how to teach u?! We need to further improved ourself if we wan to "chiong" here

Slave-masseuse investigation expands

Phan Cao Tri and his wife Phan Thi Yen
A Ho Chi Minh City massage parlor owner, accused of treating masseuses like slaves, was Tuesday found to be in possession of several fake masseuse certificates, police said.


Further investigations are underway into whether Phan Cao Tri and his wife Phan Thi Yen, owners of Tan Hoang Phat massage parlor in Thu Duc District, faked seals and state documents, an official from HCMC Police Department said Tuesday.

One of the fake certificates, purportedly issued in 2001, carried the name of someone who was then a departmental head as the deputy director of the HCMC University of Medicine and Pharmacy, police said.

Investigations were also continuing into allegations that two masseuses from Soc Trang Province suffered broken vertebrae while trying to escape the massage parlor on January 16. Local police, who had handled the case, are accused of failing to take appropriate action against parlor owner Tri.

Thanh, a massage parlor customer, said he had rescued one of the masseuses after local police took no action on his report of slave-masseuses being kept at the establishment.

On Monday, police arrested Tri, Yen and Yen’s brother Phan Viet Hau, for illegally detaining and extorting money from their female employees.

Police also seized a pistol and seven cartridges during raids conducted since last Saturday on parlors in Thu Duc District, Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces.

All the businesses allegedly detained women, beat them, forced them to perform sex acts on customers, controlled their meals, extorted money from them and locked them in dog cages as punishment.

Phan Van Vu, who worked as a waiter at the parlor, said the head of the neighborhood and a local senior policeman came to drink at the karaoke lounge every week. Hau arranged masseuses to join them every time they visited, Vu said.

Yap, in Sg, our language level is considered not bad but you have to keep in mind that VN gals actually lower their standards in order to communicate with us. SO....when you are in VN, our language level is only as good as 3-4 yr olds....at most 5-7 years old!!!! hahaha!!

I've spent 5 years and can only get the gist of what they are saying but dun understand what exactly they are talking about

So if you take 5 years can do that then you would have already overtaken me.. haha!!
