No Master can ever enlighten you...... you have to find the way to enlightenment yourself..... the Masters are only there to guide you along.

Unfotunatelly, Buddism like any other religion have different sect due to the many difference in understanding the sutra and 修行 methods.

With my limited knowledge, i seems to be more interested in zen. Am still looking for a master who can guide me to enlightment as well. 领悟前，师父渡你。领悟后自己渡自己。

Buddism has never spread into different sect, it is human who did it. The main motto was not change, if you look back at history, you will understand.

Remember the journey to the west, the sutra was drop into the sea, some sutra was wash to different region. If you look at many practice around south east asia, you will see different sect of buddism.

Buddism in tibet, da cheng. Thailand xiao cheng, china amituofo, japan di zan wang, Singapore mainly amituofo and guanyin, taiwan mi le fo.

Sutra is in pali script, has been created as a common language by buddha for followers to practice buddism. Different understanding become new sect, if different races and languages come together to chant, it will be the same sutra, only different accent. Heart sutra, is the most common sutra for all buddists. If they can chant in pali, can you imagine how is sound like. All same sutra but different tempo and accents.

Buddha has never change his motto, passing down all his wisdom and sutra, kindness, merciful. All the correct teaching which all religion share the same, teach good and never teach bad.

Buddism is wide and open. If you turn into different sect, ranking, motive, end of the day you still learn what buddha has been teaching. Should we need different sect? Buddism is still buddhism. All students learn the same, master is a person who knows more but will him share his knowledge.

If you attain enlightenment, it is because you understand buddha teaching. Try to learn one thing at a time, when you find out the meaning which is different from what you know, you will feel the happiness.

Example : You chant in front of your altar, think that you chant for buddha. If the buddha tell you:" I teach you chanting, is for you to chant for the death, sick or blessing for living. Today, you chant in front of me. I have pass away, no more sickness, very bless, why are you chanting for me." Sutra is to help others, i am buddha, your teacher. Are you blessing for me?

For self enlightenment, you should do more meditations. Once your mind is clear and relax, you will have solutions or can pull through the hard time.

I am curious about this Chinese life reading hocus pocus. I was brought to a temple while transit in KL to do a reading on my life. Unfortunately the old lady can only speak Chinese and a few simple English words..... communicating with her with a headache. She kept asking for my birthday and then insisted it was the wrong one....lol

How can I ever get my birthday wrong? !
I even showed her my passport which had the DOB on it...... in the end it was a wasted trip as she refused to do my reading as I could not furnish her with the "correct" birthdate that she wanted.

Nowadays..got online "master"..just key in your birthday - even roman calendar, the system can calculate the chinese lunar calendar and work out your life prediction..but..remember - 无知无罪，明知天罪.

Knowing too much is not good sometimes.

I dabble in this during my younger days..my relatives all think i am a "master" too..haha..and they will come and ask me for auspicious day to do things..LOL

Cause that date is based on the western calendar. She needed your DOB on the lunar calendar. Hope this helps!

Grounded Eagle I can't interpret your recurring dream. May be it's a warning to beware of family disputes over money dat might escalate to murder? 1953 might b #19-35 or seat/ticket no. 5913?

There was dat infamous case of a newspaper editor, I think. He was invited to stay in a grand manor in UK. As he was gonna sleep at night in 1 of the manor bedrooms, he looked out the curtained window. He saw a ghastly sight of an old ugly woman carrying a coffin on her back in the garden. She was in the moonlight. She looked up at him. He gasped. Shocked. He closed the curtain. He went to sleep. The next morning he asked every one. They couldn't enlighten him. The other version of this story is he was in 1 of the manor's bedrooms n dreamt about the old ugly woman carrying the coffin.

Some years later, as he was entering a crowded lift, he saw the same old ugly woman in the lift. He was so shocked, he didn't enter the lift. The lift doors closed. The lift malfunctioned n plunged to the bottom of the lift shaft, killing every one including the old ugly woman in it.
