Why not?

If the smallest country in the world can support the most expensive Ministers in the world, anything is possible in Singapore. Just that the Government has the political will to do it or not.

Any resources that is already not enough for Singaporeans in Singapore should be given to Singaporeans first. This is no choice. With 40% of drivers on the road being PRs and Foreigners, if this group are not allowed to bid for COEs, COEs will be cheaper.

Besides, Singaporeans will always have ready buyers for their 2nd Hand cars if PRs and foreigners are only allowed to buy 2nd hand cars. Even some other countries have started to discriminate when allocating resources between citizens, PRs and Foreigners.

Any Singapore Government should develop Singaporeans first then talk about developing PRs and foreigners.

Your current affairs and economics knowledge fail. Inflation does happen regardless but to have inflation rate of 5%-6% each year can only be because of government induced reasons.

Prices of basic HDB housing shot up the fastest rate under PM Lee, even faster than private housing. Overpopulation caused stress on inadequate infrastructure thus increase in prices.

Overpopulation will have 'You dont buy, somebody else will buy' situation. Thus sellers can increase prices. There are not enough resources for everyone in Singapore. Only the top bidder will get the things they want. Such endless cycle will eventually trickle down and prices will shoot up.

Housing, hospitals, utilities, gas, electricity, EPL, water, TV programmes, transport, education etc all will be clogged by overpopulation and prices will shoot up. Only people with money can afford. Where does that leave lower income Singaporeans? Even middle income Singaporeans by deciding whether to have kids or support parents. You cannot choose both anymore.
