Recently met a new VB who likes to use the word "lan". For example:

1. 2g e moi ve lan
2. 5g e moi ngu lan
3. que e o Ben Tre lan

What is the meaning of "lan" here? Any bros can help? Thanks a lot.

(I think the rough meaning is that she asks someone to buy food for her, but it is hard to translate some words, such as 'chieu', 'vo quan', 'lan'. Yes. she uses lan again and that drives me crazy. haha)

2. chac co le e ko qua nua dau, tai qua day sao giong o tu qua.

(Can we put 'chac' and 'co le' together? I think their meanings are opposite. One is certainly, one is possibly. Also, what is 'tu qua'?)

The translation of the second one should be: Certainly, possibly I don't come here anymore at all, because coming here how can it be the same as in my own 'qua' (country? home? place?)

1, 2, 3: "lan". Meaning emphasis. "lan" is often put at the end of sentence along with "moi", "tan" in the middle.
1. 2g e moi ve lan --> I dun come back home until 2:00 (may be AM) --> emphasize that she works until very late.
2. 5g e moi ngu lan --> Emphasize that she stays up until very late.
3. que e o Ben Tre lan --> Emphasize that her hometown is very far.

1. chieu e moi vo quan mua com an lan.
Chieu: afternoon.
Vo: come in
Quan: store, shop (only use with food, drinks)
Lan: as I said above.

2. chac co le e ko qua nua dau, tai qua day sao giong o tu qua.
Chac: Maybe. An adverb/linking verb/model verb/conjunction, is put at the begin of the sentence, often goes along with "co le". The same meaning, chac = co le = chac co le = maybe, perhaps. "Chac" also usually used as a verb, differently means "sure". E.g: "Anh/em chac khong?" = R u sure? If "chac" means "sure", often follwed by "chan". "Chac chan la..." = I'm sure that...

"O tu" (ở tù) = jailed. Tù = prison.
"Qua" at the end of the sentence, exactly = "tai... le!" in Chinese.

Thanks bbbb for saving my life. Without you, I really don't know how to manage this new girl. This morning alone I received 10 sms from her, and each new sms becomes longer and more complicated than the previous one.

After your explanation, the meaning of her sms becomes very clear to me. The trouble is, this is just the 2nd and 3rd sms. I am still trying to understand her other sms. Will post some more questions here, hope you can hep me again.

What is 'de tao', 'cai em', 'tao chieu' and 'dung'? I am also not so sure about the meaning of this sentence. Probably her friend asked her to buy ticket to go back vn, but she said now cannot.

What is 've ben'? I know she wants to visit me, but when?? I don't understand her meaning.

I think getting sms is not difficult, the problem is most VB are lazy to talk to us like common friends. A lot of sms are like "an com chua? anh khoe kg? or em nho anh" which are completely useless for us to learn.

Only VB who come to Singapore for the first time have the time and mood to hold deeper conversation with us! I am always very surprised how quickly they can deteriorate after working in Singapore for some time.
