Tet nearing, air tickets selling like hot cakes

VietNamNet Bridge – People are hurrying to book tickets for the flights on Tet holiday, though Tet will come only in four months. Many passengers have said they have to book business class tickets, because economy class tickets have run out.



Airlines have warned that, like previous years, the air tickets for the flights from HCM City to Hanoi on the days before Tet and on Tet days, and the tickets for the flights from Hanoi to HCM City on the days after Tet will be short. The average airfare for the flights from HCM City to Hue, Hai Phong and Hanoi Cities on peak days is about four million dong (return ticket). The flights from HCM City to Quy Nhon, Buon Ma Thuot and Tuy Hoa by Vietnam Airlines which will take off on peak days have been nearly fully booked.


According to the budget airline Jetstar Pacific (JPA), flights on HCM City – Vinh/ Hue/ Hai Phong to take off from January 27 to February 2, 2011 (December 24-30th of Lunar Year) have been fully booked. Meanwhile, only a few seats on flights on Vinh/ Hue/ Hai Phong – HCM City to take off on February 8-9, 2011 (January 6-7 of Lunar Year) have been left. However, the air tickets for the flights are running out, since the number of passengers booking tickets right at this moment is increasing rapidly.


Vietnam Airlines’ tickets are also running out for the flights on some other routes which are expected to take off from January 26, 2011 to the days just before Tet, and the flights on the opposite ways which are expected to take off on February 6-8, 2011. Passengers now have only once choice of booking business class tickets, priced at over three million dong per ticket, because economy class tickets have run out.


Passengers hope that the market joining of Air Mekong will help ease the situation. Truong Thanh Vu, Business and Service Director of Air Mekong said the airline will only have the Tet flight schedule in early November. At present, the air carrier provides 34 flights on eight air routes, providing over 3,000 seats. Vu said the air carrier will increase the number of flights on the routes with high demand, such as HCM City – Hanoi/ Da Nang and Hanoi/ Da Nang – HCM City.


Analysts say 3000 seats are really a small number if compared with the huge volume of passengers who have the demand to take flights on Tet days. However, the appearance of Mekong Air in the market, especially on the air routes, where Vietnam Airlines was once the only carrier, will help much ease the tense.


JPA and Vietnam Airlines both have said they will provide more flights on Tet, while the plan to increase flights will be made public in some more days.


The problem is that airlines do not really want to provide more flights on Tet, even though the demand for traveling increases sharply on those days. Representative from JPA said it always happens that in the days just before Tet, pilots fly from HCM City to Hanoi on the planes full of passengers and then fly back from Hanoi to HCM City on empty planes, because of no passenger.


On the 2010 Tet, a lot of passengers complained that they could not book tickets directly with booking agents and they had to purchase tickets from intermediaries (the intermediaries, anticipating the high demand, booked tickets soon with booking agents and then they sold the booked tickets to real passengers.

Thanks bros. In this case, I will take it as "coconut" then. She told me her que is Sa Dec. I checked my tourist book, and it seems that there is a very famous garden called "nursery" over there. In the province, there is also a big swamp. Hmmm.. I cannot wait to visit her hometown.

Nowadays many people in Singapore speak TV. Yesterday I was in taxi chatting with a VB with TV, and all of a sudden the driver asked us, "Di thang ko?" Wow.. It turned out that the driver has a VB wife for 8 years. Fortunately I didn't speak something stupid in the taxi.

I think I will take taxi license. After which I will queue up at JC @ 12am and GL42 @ 2:30am

That is a very good plan, but what if you have to send a pretty VB with her customer to hotel. Don't you feel itchy? Maybe that customer will be me

Serving VBs will be a big business. Renting house, food, travel arrangement, remittance, clothes, hotel.... Maybe we will get rich with these business opportunities.

The sign on the dash board already spell out "chay con gai vn thoi"... no male customer allow to board.

these are small biz... not big
renting house(bed) - $400 avg per pax. How many you can squeeze and how many you can get at a time.

food - only viet food (too many in JC now. What if the pub close one by one.. I only see long phung surviving as they are not aiming at vn community only)

travel arrangement - airticket can markup how much? (unless you are well known to the vn WL just like a vn guy in vn known as "Anh Hieu".... alot alot, damn alot of WL get ticket from him)

remittance - how much a vn WL remit? how much you can charge per remittance? you need to gain the trust of the vn WL as well (especially most of them say con trai sing xao nhieu nhieu)

Thought if it before but not worth the trouble doing

haha yup Sa Dec is an interesting place; very beautiful landscape, but nothing beats CAn Tho or My Tho. Most hot girls in hcmc are actually from the delta!

I think to make money from WL, one must be very black-hearted. You must hear the story before that they will borrow $1000 to come to singapore. Once they arrive, they need to return $1100. Some girls even need to return $1200.

If one can guarantee they can enter Singapore safely for a fee of $1000. Then I believe many of them will be more than willing to pay.

What if one recruit some VBs and work as a pimp. Take their pictures and post ads on the FL Dome at Sammyboy. Surely can make a healthy profit. Many times I see VBs who are young and pretty and I will come up with this idea. But I am not ready to go to the jail yet so give up

I agree food and lodging are not good business, it just has too much competition. The most profitable biz must be the illegal one.

no lah.. but one have to gain alot of trust from the WL... Their advertisement by word of mouth is free and powerful. The airticket seller "Anh Hieu" is an example.

To make money from the WL is risky as mostly are not trustworthy. i.e lend them money to show custom.

my bro in vn hit some wall when he first started. Now he tell those vietnamese (be it WL or not) that if you have no money, don't need approach him.

As for me, if I were to setup biz to earn the WL money, I will go bust in no time. Ask jackbl and Adguy, they will tell you why
