Thanks to much info posted and the recent thread on Jakarta info, I am encouraged to make an outing from HKG to JAK Aug 31 thru Sat 3. Will stay Jogyakarta Towers (?) and/or Meridien - any recommended itineraryies, meetings or happenings that weekend, are you guys in town (Rain? Moon? Phenom? Anyone else?) and how should I contact or meet up with u guys?!

Hi ... Glad to know u are coming at last. BUt again wrong time if u notice that I would be back in Singapore from 31st Jul till 5th Aug. Anyway.. Guess moon should be around and why don;t u PM him...

Okay. Stay at the Jogyakarta Tower which is in the middle of all happening places and lots of nice Chinese food around there. Le Meridian is more for biz man and of course u could go there on Friday night to the "Tiga Puluh" which is for some pick up. Doubt u need that as u should find what u want around your area.

Okay... Some suggestion for you.

Check-in on 31st. walk outside your hotel in the evening and some Chinese man will come up to U asking if u need women. Check the price first.. Should be about Rup 400-500,000 overnight.

But first go over to Super across the road. There are plenty of gals here and u should go to the bar first instead of the massage place. Sit and do some chick watching till u see something u like. Book and proceed to room, if u like more then one. let the mummy know and she will arrange if the 2 chick click. U can also bring them back if u like at about Rup 400K.

Other places very near to u is Sydney 2000 disco (Shakehead place to pick up gals if u like... Rup100-200K overnight), Stadium which is a must visit. Check details in this thread. Kartika Pijit for Body massage...

For some good and cheap shopping, go to ITC Mall at Magga Dua. U should be able to pick up some good stuff for your friend back home, Don't forget to negot.. at least 30-40% off the quoted price.

I've been so busy with travel these few weeks that I hardly had any time to reply to your last few emails to me. My apologies.
The same questions you posted to me were well answered by Moonface in this thread. I agreed that it all depends on the individual. For the worldlywise(newbies - and the "kiasis" as well - might term it foolhardly), no chiong place is too dangerous. For me Jkt is no more a black hole than say Manila or Bangkok. In fact a Jkt friend of mine once told me he had long wished to chiong Bkk but had not because he had "heard" that its a dangerous place. Haha, the thoughts of the misinformed and ignorant.................
Not a few of my SG friends had also on numerous occasions asked me about the safety level of Jkt . My reply to them is always this; after thirty-odd trips or so over the last decade, I'm still alive. (By the way, despite the many years, I still do not speak Bahasa.)
I'm glad that you are finally making the trip there, though I wouldn't be able to meet up with you. My next trip will be sometime around the middle of Aug.
On my last trip there which started on 26/6 and dragged on till the sixth of this month, I had a booming great time with huge melons from both my old and and new favourites; Kartika Massage and L-A Bar respectively. Practically all of the eight (six from L-A and two from Kartika) chix I had bonked are delicious cantaloupes with above average and superb service. I'll have to search for my notes to post a fr on them ... pretty soon.
