Bro, I've never heard of this website so I'm not sure about how credible this is. Don't worry too much yet. Rafa found Alonso and I'm sure he can find someone as good if Alonso wants to leave. We can't blame Alonso for wanting to leave after how we tried to sell him last season to buy Barry. If Alonso really leaves for that price as quoted, it's good business for us. It means we would have recoup his transfer fees plus wages over the last 5 years plus make a profit.

Anyone knows about the Champions League 6+5 rules? Must have 5 players from your home country is it? If that's the rule, then it explains why Madrid is buying Spanish and why Rafa bought Glen Johnson.

Anyone collected the free car decal from the 20 car parks today? It is nice to see so many liverpool fans hanging around waiting to collect car decal in our jerseys. It's easy to strike up a conversation with fellow Reds. I'm looking forward to their visit in July.

From soccernet: Barca's Toure signs one-year contract extension

Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure has signed a one-year contract extension with the European champions.

Toure's new deal ties him to the club until June 30, 2012 and includes a new buy-out clause of 100million euros, the Catalan giants confirmed tonight.

"What's important is to play at a great club and Barca is the club in which I want to play. This is the shirt in which I want to play,'' said Toure on his club's website.

"My will is to end my career here, but I have to continue showing that I can play at the level of this club."

The 26-year-old international, who had been linked with a possible move to England over the last six months, became the first player from the Ivory Coast to represent Barca after moving to the Nou Camp from Monaco in 2007.

Last season Toure, the younger brother of Arsenal defender Kolo, helped Barca become the first Spanish side to win the treble of Primera Division, Copa del Rey and European Cup.

Barca president Joan Laporta said after Toure had committed his future to the club: "It's a great day for Barca because we have extended the contract of one of the best midfielders in the world."

to me , the trio midfield axis of mascherano-alonso-gerrard is very important and well balanced. any of them leaves or injuried , the passing , penetration or attack is not as effective.

benayoun is also an excellent player who has been under rated and i have said a few times that benitez shld play him more often. liverpool's fine run at the end of the season can largely be due to his contribution. he is one player whose contract shld be extended for a long time.

the only player i wish to say goodbye is lucas. slow , poor anticipation, just making up the numbers most of the time.

Same feeling, as long as Stevie, Torres and Carra around, I not too worried about others leaving (Not much players want to leave Anfield anyway, maybe except Aberloa)

BUT to replace a player like Alonso can be quite tricky too, as I cant recall who can be a better passer than him these days can come cheap as well..

Anyway, after Johnson, we seems to be quiet on the transfer market.

Real Madrid are launching a triple raid on Liverpool.

Sport says Real are ready to offer £60 million for midfield pair Javier Mascherano and Xabi Alonso, along with fullback Alvaro Arbeloa.

However, the offer still falls short of Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez's valuation, who rates Mascherano and Xabi at £35 million each and Arbeloa at £8 million.

Benitez has already rejected a separate £3 million offer from Real for Arbeloa this week.
