Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
FINAL SCORE: BIRMINGHAM 0 LIVERPOOL 0
well, as Pool fans i guess all of us expected a very tough game at Birm and a draw was not a surprising result at all, as the past 6 encounters had shown. In the first half Birm dominated, had a few good chances and we were lucky Reina made a few splendid saves to keep us in the game. Pool played better in the 2nd half, esp after Agger and Raul came on. (or was it cos Lucas was off??? sorry, couldnt resist to take a dig at him!!! ) In the end, DRAW was probably a fair result for both. (Birm fans may say otherwise ) Actually Im kinda worried with our type of inept performance tonight, with the daunting trip to OT looming next week. If we play like this, Devils may have us for dinner. Players like SG, Torres, Maxi were off-form, Johnson's defending at times was juz rubbish, Jovanovic tried hard but was far too ordinary, rarely threatened. Lucas was as usual, Lucas. I thought a Raul who came on for only 15 mins did even better than him. A plus point, Konchesky had a credible performance but he sustained an injury late in the game. Hope he recovers by next week. I was hoping to see his trademark power shots tonite but the Birm defence was always too packed for him to do so. Ok, only 5 pts fr 4 games. But if we can upset the form books with a win at OT next week, it will put us back in the right track for the Top 4 spot.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
sigh...i dont know whats wrong with liverpool against that fucking dog...liverpool need to be aggressive with their opponent,,since under benitez if they continue like this,,nobody from opponent are scared with liverpool who used to be their nightmare....if all of them played like gerard who willing to die and go for the ball,,the result will be diff...besides theres no fairplay on england club...english football are fast game,rough..
the problem with liverpool is from defend,,,scrappy ,,,zone marking but not aware of their opponent running around...Johnson should drop out..slow passing,,lose ball alot in this game. Midfield,,enjoy passing backward,,slow in attacking,no vision on their passing,no cut in thru for support,,everybody simply wait for the ball to be pass to them...lack of idea to provide....i agree Maxi is almost invisible in this game,,where is he as a midfield,,where is his run, skills, crossing,,at most ive seen is johnson. the only victim is torres,,he doesnt had support from his team mate..he try so hard but ve been mark as much as 4 person...even if he play outside the box,,to my dissapointment,,the rest seems to be waitng for the ball...not much running. |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
i was surprised it took 75 mins for RH to make changes. He could have taken Lucas right after the 1st half and sub Maxi too. Poor decision. Maybe RH wanted to secure a point in this 'difficult ground'. Maybe RH did not want to be too adventurous n leave holes in his defence, which Birm time n again exploited in the 1H.

See ,the gamble didn't pay off! This is RH"s tactics, to have another referee on the field to confuse the opponents. But i guessed his tricks didn't work as it confused the pool's players more.

Is this going to be our attitude when we go away from Anfield? We need to sort out our away form which was horrid last season. |

That headless chicken continued to act like pin-ball bumper that at times diverted balls to the opponents Not only he acted like a referee, he also wanted to act like Alonso in getting the opponents red-carded. If not for Reina's brillant saves, the game could have ended as a 3-0 loss.

Maybe RH dare not risk pacheco and take the draw instead. For once, i am glad cole is coming back next game. Drop maxi, lucas. Lets go for the fight next game. Put in raul, cole and maybe even pacheco on the wings. |

Two matches against lower rank opposition (WBA and Birmingham) and Liverpool is starting to look like a mid table team...this is very worrying indeed...

We will have just about our strongest team available against the Scum (barring injuries in the Europa Cup). No excuses here and I don't care the result but we have to go there and put up a real fight. |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Hi Bros,
Reina man of the match...without him, it would be another 3-0 whitewash! I thought the back 4, including Konchesky, did relatively ok. It was by no means their best performance, but it was not downright shitty either. I would say that it was just adequate to aid our super gk keep a clean sheet last night. Now the midfield and onwards, thats a different story altogether. First off, Jovanovic and Rodriguez are not out and out wingers. Neither of them will hug the bye-line, beat the opposing fullback and whip in a dangerous cross for our forwards to try to get at the end off. Both had the tendency when on the ball, to cut in to find space instead of staying wide and with that, our entire play was narrowed into the centre. Once Brimingham packed their players there, there was no way any pass or shot was going to go through such a crowd. As it were, most if not all our attacks were easily cut out when it went through the centre. This in turn resulted in our having so little chances to threaten the opponent's goal last night! Rodriguez had a poor game and Jovanovic was only slightly better. Further, both Gerrard and Torres were off colour and had perhaps one of the worst matches for the club in a long long time. Lucas was his usual useless self and Poulsen was left picking up the pieces, especially when Lucas kept getting turned by the opposing midfielders, misplacing passes and missing his tackles. There, all six of our outfielders having a dodgy game, some worst than others...how to score a goal? The only consolation for me last night was watching Meireles and the added industry he gave to the team once he came on. I see him as an exciting prospect and cannot wait to see him and Cole return to the first team. That said, its MU at Old Trafford up next and if we play like we did last night, it will be another nil return and another agonising wait for 3 pts in full from an away fixture! |

Meireles is a quality player if he play like yesterday. Got excellent game intelligence. He is going to be another key player like Gerrard n Torres. |
