You don't need an IPhone just to have a portable Vietnam dictionary. The phone is overrated anyway. Plenty of better Windows Mobile PDA which can let you run softwares like..

Vietnamese-English -LingvoSoft Dictionary 2008 English <-> Vietnamese for Pocket PC

Don't be fooled by their "talking version", it only pronounes the English words not Tieng Viet. If you know where to look, you can get all these softwares free online.

I have been using this software from lingvosoft for at least 2 years. I will do the translation on my phone and show it to the gal, works everytime.

I often go early one leh...as early as 7pm... and go home by 11+

If i go later, i will trigger u, u will be the POC ok?

By the way if go early, often can sing a lot of songs... there can sing viet songs too....... I cannot sing well la, maybe i find u a few viet "singers" to teach u, hehe

Ho Chi Minh City doctors have reported an alarming increase in the number of dengue fever cases, up to three times the number of cases usually reported at this time of year.

Health workers are also reporting an increase in the number of adults falling victim to the mosquito -borne virus.

HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases Deputy Director Tran Tinh Hien said the hospital had admitted between 150 and 200 dengue fever patients.

“The hospital receives between 30 and 50 cases a day,” Hien said. “Most patients come from District 2, District 7 and Tan Binh District.”

“The number of cases is double or sometimes triple the number we had at the same time last year,” he said.

Until October this year, the hospital, the city’s main facility for treating dengue patients, had admitted 9,600 dengue cases, 70 percent of which were adults.

Hien said patients of up to 50 year-olds had been admitted. Usually the maximum age for dengue patients was 25, he said.

“Many patients had thought they had just caught a cold that had gotten worse,” he said.

Hien warned patients against treating themselves with medicine from pharmacies, which could prove fatal.

The most extreme symptoms of dengue fever include hemorrhage, loss of consciousness, respiratory failure and abnormal liver, kidney and brain function. So far this year, five adult patients have died died from dengue fever after being hospitalized, he said.

Symptoms of dengue fever, a common disease in developing countries, include a high flu-like fever, skin rashes and severe pain in the head and limbs.

There is no vaccine to protect against dengue infection. The disease is transmitted by daytime-biting mosquitoes and international health organizations recommend people try to avoid being bitten by using insect repellant and wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants.

The increase in the number of cases has been blamed on this year’s extended rainy season, which usually ends in late October and the increasingly polluted urban environment that has created ideal conditions for mosquitoes to breed.

did a search on the dictionary for some of the meaning of the words used in the sms.. tried to mix and match still catch no ball.. sorry cant be of any help..

Vietnam tops Asian rankings in happiness

The results of the survey, released Wednesday, shows that Vietnam is expected to have the highest level of happiness in the region over the next six months.

Moreover, Vietnamese citizens are ranked first globally regarding how satisfied they are with the global political situation.

The Nielsen Happiness Study, which polled 28,153 respondents online this May, found that there are three main drivers of happiness – personal financial situation, mental health and work.

Vietnamese are very happy with their physical health, personal security and finance, the government and the country’s present economic situation and not so satisfied with the state of their mental health, access to health care and information, the survey report said.

Vietnam and Japan top global rankings in valuing parental relations as an important happiness factor.

Vietnamese also consider relationships with their boss as a strong happiness driver, The Nielsen Company discovered, suggesting this finding is something employers in Vietnam should take notice.

Asha Phillips, manager of marketing and communications at The Nielsen Company Vietnam, said 49 percent of Vietnamese save their spare cash, indicating the people’s forward-thinking orientation.

“Many of the world’s emerging markets outrank developed countries in terms of happiness and satisfaction levels in nearly all aspects of lives,” said Bruce Paul, vice president of Consumer Research at The Nielsen Company. “For consumers in rapidly developing markets, there could be a greater sense of appreciation for improved social welfare compared to what they had a few years ago.”

The survey also revealed that globally, women are happier than men in most of the 51 countries polled, with the exception of Brazil, South Africa and Vietnam.
