Singapore cancels visit passes of 2 Malaysians, revokes work pass of another

2013-05-15 15:56

SINGAPORE, May 15 (Bernama) -- The Singapore authorities have initiated the revocation of the work pass of one of 21 Malaysians involved in the May 8 and 11 illegal gatherings at Merlion Park, here.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) in a statement said the authorities had also cancelled the visit passes of another two of them.

As for the remaining 18 persons, SPF said their work passes would be reviewed upon completion of further investigations.

The SPF said the Malaysians who took part in the illegal gatherings at Merlion Park would also be issued with conditional warnings, and that their employers would be informed of this.

It stressed that Singapore did not take sides in the politics of other countries and would work with whoever formed the government there.

It added that foreigners living or working in Singapore must abide by Singapore's laws and should not import the issues or politics of their countries of origin to Singapore.

Th SPF said this was a long-standing principle which had helped maintain harmony and public order in Singapore, as well as good relations with other countries.
