Global Warming
An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:
I know that most people here don't give a shit about global warming. But do look at this issue a little closer, and ask yourself, what you can do to help this situation? What can you do to reduce your carbon footprint? Don't just leave it to the politicians. Do what you can, no matter how small or insignificant it is, it all adds up. I know, if it gets too hot, just turn on the air-condition. Slurp down some ice-kacang. Bathe without hot-water (should be an ongoing thing here in the tropics!). Do something that requires less dependence on fossil fuels (for generating electricity), walk up the stairs, rather than taking the lift, cyclce instead of driving the car. And most of all, do not support the F-1, Singapore does not need it! Watching television last night, on BBC, they were talking about preventing floods in London from the Thames rising! (due to weather changes, on CCTV, a documentary on flooding in Bangladesh - this is a concern all over the world. Singapore is a maritime city, surrounded by the sea. Any rise in sea level, "ponding" will be inevitable. See article below - global warming is real, and happening. And that's in a cold country! Cheers! http://calgary.ctvnews.ca/106-year-o...gary-1.2865593 106-year-old heat record broken in Calgary Published Tuesday, April 19, 2016 12:36PM MDT Last Updated Tuesday, April 19, 2016 6:32PM MDT The temperature in Calgary reached 27.1 degrees on Tuesday afternoon, breaking a 106 year record that was set in 1910 CTV - David Spence ✔ @CTVdavidspence RECORD SET! Environment Canada says its been a fairly warm April so far this year, with an average temperature of 16.9 degrees. March was much cooler, sitting at an average 9.7 degrees. April 2015s average temperature was a shade cooler at 14.4 degrees. The past few months have been very dry too, with only 0.6 mm of rain and negligible amounts of snow so far this month and 2.3 mm of rain and 2.4 mm of snow in March.
