Try those serviced apt kind of hotel.

Usually not exceeding 400rmb.

1 of the place that I stayed before is 爱丽轩公寓式酒店。

Its located at 延安路，镇宁路.

Price per night is RMB350, without breakfast.

Its quite centralised and going to 虹桥 or 徐家汇 area normally do not cost more than 30RMB for taxi.

If you want a place nearer to action, try those motel near 红梅路， lots of massage there as its very near to 老外街。
