for cash problem the driver will demand you to pay more that the fare if you pay using the cash exp : 15k ride they will ask for more from the app just becareful right now because the grab/gojek driver fee become less and less and the driver too many so they will earn less so they will find someway to get more money.

For my trips over the last 3 months, I've used Grab/Gojek/Maxim with cash and cashless payments. I've not encountered drivers asking for more than what's quoted in the apps.

My trips during the last 2 months, we booked Grab and waited for the car at Marriott Hotel pickup/dropoff point below the ramp to the main lobby. What's interesting is that, after we boarded the car. On our way out, i notice a kiosk that is catered for online taxis pickup. Those who had booked online to taxis at Grand Batam Mall and boarded the car opposite the door at Top100, there is a similar kiosk for online taxi pickup as the one i saw at harbourbay after Marriot Hotel and Serdehana Nasi Padang.

The 2-3 times we booked Grab in HarbourBay and stated pickup at Marriot Hotel pickup/dropoff point, the driver is ok to pick us up there. I don't know whether it's the same at Batam Center though.

New Spa (or Venew Spa as they are known now) at Batam City Hotel. Their package include hj (just like Venus Spa near Hotel Sahid at Batam Center).

cause they always act like they don't have change so you will always pay them round up...

there are safe zones for drop off /pick-up points for Grab & Gojek.. there's one at marriott batam... then walk from there..

Batam centre cannot pick-up, can is can but the mall opposite or by the side of the road. Grab & Gojek driver will type or call in Indonesian say they scared to go in.

Grand Batam mall has an official pickup point and the only ferry terminal with an official pick-up or drop off is harbourbay.... if you book from marriott batam.

Maybe a naive question but could one make a day trip from Singapore and get a few hours of fun in Batam? Also if looking for younger Indos which spa/hotel place is best these days - like worth booking for 2 hours plus?

Any bros here with experience staying at Batam City Hotel? The hotel has a spa - do you know if they will come to your room for massage if you’re staying at the hotel? For that matter, any hotels in Batam has such spa and service? Thank you in advance! 🙏

During precovid days, i normally pay exact fare or just give 20k if fare is 17k. I havent experience driver asking for more. I paid in cash.

Me too. So far no problem with grab driver. Normally paid according to the fares reflected in my HP. Ok, next time i would just walk over to Marriot hotel and book grab.

Everyone's preferred food is different.

You use Grab food or Go food apps right? If you happen to like a particular kind of food in Batam, can order direct from Grab food or Go food to your hotel. 95% plus of all good & better food known in Batam can be ordered to your hotel,hehehe...that's almost everything you need at your finger tip.

My favourite Meximo pub wantan noodle can be ordered from those apps, & all the Micky mouse BKT in various location + etc etc too.

Don't know where to find good Nasi Padang? My advise...try EVERY Nasi Padang in Batam whenever you are there. You'll find one you like one day.

* much often, i bring the "try everything" attitude to Batam to find things i like there.

Ok, back to Newton.

Newton Hotel has been close since before covid time, that is as far i have known. But during then the disco is still in operation. I said i walk pass Newton during the day. I don't think Newton discotheque is in operation during day time tho.

Same here, never encounter any Gojek/GoCar/Maxim driver who ask for more than the quoted amount,hehehe...even if they do i also don't understand what they say tho.

Place in Harbour Bay ferry terminal to wait for your Gojek/GoCar/Maxim driver.

A friend brought me there & order his taxi there.

I have not waited there before, i usually wait in my hotel lobby...hehehe...i notice Maxim, a new app in Batam. Hotel receptionist helped me booked a taxi with it. Seems like it is a bit cheaper than Gojek & Grab.

Till now, i STILL don't have grab/gojek/maxim apps on my phone.

Batam City Hotel base on pre-covid time has in house massage from New spa. Then again, this info is before covid time. I used to stay there before & have request for in house massage for myself & my girl(s).

That was the time i learned a massage girl from New Spa (ex-Delta girl) was gang raped in the hotel room.

I was about to tell you Utama hotel, but my recent trip tells me Utama hotel already closed down.

Try staying in Hotels near DC mall or ex-Utama hotel area, the MPs around there allows their girls to go hotel to do the massage for customer. And almost all of the MPs near DC Mall are "dirty massage".
