The flames/clones/pics were more of a recent phenomenon in the long history of this thread (started 7 years? ago by Malaysian Datuk). There were many shared experiences and words of wisdom that are helpful to those who cheong HFJs. As such, imho, I feel it is a pity that the thread gets deleted.

Rather than just stating the problem, I am trying to suggest a solution here.

Is there anyway that the old HFJ can be offered as a read-only and searchable thread? ie can read but no new post. A last message in that thread would link to this current thread where new posts can be made.

I knew that vbulletin can make a forum read-only, but don't know whether it is technically feasible for a thread to be made read-only.
Also, unsure about how [archive] can be used for this purpose?

Exactly when i am not sure, 2-4yrs ago all the influx or rumour mongering and outright trouble makers appeared and ruined this very fun & informational thread.

immediately i was reminded of the many posts that were used here for outright more slander and more shit stirring.
That was when the idea of a self moderated thread was suggested where it would relieve the headache from mods n boss from zapping, removing posts etc.
The old HFJ thread minus all the lies and fake posts, is and was the holy grail of HFJ.
So sad its gone, but my gut tells me bro, THEY'LL BE BACK thus the only way to curb that problem permanently is to have this thread moderated by someone in the know and those flame posts deleted without even the chance to spark into another civil war

No M.E, correction, i was never forced out of retirement.
I made a conscious decision to UN-RETIRE.
No WLs can force me.
Like now, retired since 3rd qtr from last year till now, so peaceful.
