I just wanna laugh when I see the coach ticket prices to KL or Hatyai. A mere top up of maybe $20-30 I can take aeroplane already. Haha. Must thank Airasia for getting the ball rolling. Flying over to BKK every weekend can be a reality for most now.
Airasia or no Airasia, horny people will do anything within their means to go sanuk, me is a good example.

TG is $39 too. I think SQ is factoring in the additional cost for increase in oil price. Typical SQ. Don't fly with them.

Tax itself is S$39. The rest are the kiasu charges for increased terrorist risks and oil prices.

Airlines Airport Tax Insurance/Fuel Surcharge
SQ 21 36
TG 21 44
CX 21 22
SK 21 38
GA 21 36
LX 21 18 (no fuel surcharge at the moment)

SQ-Singapore Airlines
TG-Thai Airways
CX-Cathay Pacific Airways
SK-Scandinavian Airlines
GA-Garuda
LX-Swiss International Air Lines

From the above, one can see that SQ did not imposed the highest surcharge.

Re: Air Tickets in BKK

A friend of mine just arrived fm BKK yersterday on Airasia.

His price for Bkk-Sin-Bkk ... 2400 baht exclude tax.
That's only slightly more than S$100 for a returned ticket.

Damn good price.

Re: Air Tickets in BKK

Brudders, esp old birds out there who fly your tiraks into Sing, pls read and response and see if I am doing the right thing.

I am going to VALUAIR, buy ticket for her. BKK-Sing-BKK for S$234 (plus Singapore airport tax)

Then they will give me a form to fill in as i was told that the person who pays must sign something for the other party to fly. Then I will send the print out to her via registered mail.

Questions

For immigration to let her in, she must have the slip to show her 2 way flight right? And if she carries S$500 on her as well as my address, is this good enough?

Or do i still need to call immigation to be her sponser?

And say if she decides to stay longer, we go Malaysia means her stay willl be extended right?

THANKS, just want to make sure that her trip does not screw up.

Ever thought of AirAsia ? If both of you are flexible with the schedule, can get very cheap tickets. U could buy in her name, and can use Credit card to pay. If she has internet access, she can print out the eticket. Or you can print and send to her.

For the "show money" maybe $1k is better if u wanna make sure. Better still, give her a letter with you as the sponsor to assure the authorities that she is here as a guest. Leave your contact no. (in case they want to call u to double-check) and make sure u are there to pick her up. When u do this, they have no reasons to suspect she is here to sell services, but rather is a genuine visitor. This is what I will be doing myself when my tirak comes to visit my mum. Or I may even go up 1st and then fly down with her, as Thaivisitor suggested. Kind of have to depend how much leave I can take though (to include the going up), cos wanna take leave and spend 2 whole weeks with her when she comes. Now already going up every 2 weeks to see her (and burning leave if I dun come back by Sunday )

Brudder, personally i feel air asia cannot really make it. I dun want her to have to rush to get a seat, a lot of KS people, esp S'poreans coming back from BKK........ Also, lie that less people, esp males and BRUDDERS will stare at my baby (Pls dun flame me, just my opinion)

So Valuair is the choice, got allocated seat, got food and it is not too expensive like SIA that's like 300+ the last time i asked.

If I go by myself to see her, confirm Air Asia, stinge on myself no problem lar. Fight for seat also can.

September first week I will be flying up, maybe we can arrange something together. PM me if u interested.

Regards

P/S: Letter and 1k, will do.......thanks

If u dun need to conserver money, cool. Enjoy life. No food in AirAsia? Well I pay 20baht (yes 90cents) for coffee in exchange for at least $150-200 savings. So far, I have paid from $130 to $238 including taxes. Rushing for seats is not really that bad. Just stand up and join the queue earlier and u get to choose your seats. Anyway if u dun need ailse seats (like me cos I get claustrophobic in the middll seat), one can take your time. Actually I find the leather seats more comfortable than SQ (which I used to fly often).

I go as often as twice weekly (Sunday to Wed from end this month), cos r/s in a advanced phase now. So if our timings can match cool.
