Fields Plaza Suites belongs to the ABC group...... there are others who have the money to burn and it was meant for these type of people. (hint: a member of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers is a regular in Fields and would always party in FPS...... his favourite hangout is the High Society disco).

Whether new or 2nd hand does not matter..... it is more important that your phone works. (Some overseas phones cannot work in the PI..... especially those bought in the USA).
You can buy a good 2nd hand phone in AC for about 900p-1000p..... please buy one that is easy to text as everyone prefers to text than to call.
Smart Globe is a good value SIM card...... and you can maintain the line from overseas.
How much depends on your usage..... some get by with 5 texts day while for some others even 50 texts is not enough.
I would suggest you load 300p and top up if it is not enough. Remember to maintain at least 100p when you leave the PI in order to keep your line alive.
