Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours

Heard in the recent Class 95's Morning Express show with The Flying Dutchman, Glenn Ong and Vernetta Lopez that Glenn Ong has ditched his Arsenal to support the Red Devils now.

His current darling Jean Danker has always been a United fan. Not sure if Glenn is really serious about switching allegiance, but he has been whacking Gunners' manager Wenger on air lately for them dropping out of the BPL title race. FD and Vern are Pool supporters and Glenn has been urging Pool to beat Chelski so that his new team will win the BPL.

Real Madrid star Ronaldo opens door to shock Man Utd return

The former Manchester United man admits he will not be spending the rest of his career with the Spanish giants.

He said: “Football is all about cycles. I believe that you are in teams for cycles. I spent several years wanting to play in Madrid. But I don’t see myself here at 40."

Cristiano Ronaldo watches Barcelona's Lionel Messi celebrate scoring against Real Madrid

His quotes come weeks after United manager Sir Alex Ferguson admitted Ronaldo could make a sensational return to Old Trafford.

Ronaldo added: “Alex Ferguson understood my decision. I continue to talk to him."

Yeah, I dun expect Pool to be able to beat Chelsea even if they're at their best, let alone with the prospect of not wanting to help MU lingering at the back of their minds.

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours

It`s Going To Be A Big Weekend For...

Chelsea and Manchester United

Wins for both the title contenders would technically take the race to the final day, but in reality those results would probably crown Carlo Ancelotti's men as champions.

Both sides are at home on the deciding day, against Wigan and Stoke respectively, both of whom have little to play for (although more on that later), and if the latter's performance at Stamford Bridge last weekend is anything to go by, are already on the beach.

So who has the tougher task? Is it United, travelling to a Sunderland side who have just managed to string back to back wins together for the first time this season, and who haven't lost at home since December? Or Chelsea, facing a Liverpool team who have taken 25 points from the last available 27 at Anfield, but are without their best player?

On paper and historical evidence Chelsea's task is clearly tougher, but Sunderland's capacity to shock should not be underestimated. Just ask Liverpool. And Arsenal. And Spurs.

Sunday will be the most important day of the Premier League season, as much to see who holds their nerve as anything.

Carlo Ancelotti

It has been suggested that Ancelotti's actually rather sparse trophy haul at AC Milan suggests he might be something of a choker.

It's something of a surprise to note that Ancelotti 'only' won one Serie A and two Champions Leagues with the Rossoneri, given his reputation and standing in Milan, and while one cannot judge a manager based on six minutes of football, questions should be asked about the 'big game' temperament of a manager whose side throws away a 3-0 lead in a European final.

Chelsea have been curiously inconsistent this season. They have won both games against United but lost twice to Manchester City. The recent win over United was followed with that pathetic, anaemic showing at Spurs. They battered Arsenal twice yet have only taken a point from Everton. Their six game winning streak at the start of the season was ended by Wigan.

An iron mentality might be missing, but in a comparatively poor year, 'decent' might be good enough.

Owen Hargreaves

If he is still hanging on to a faint hope of making the World Cup squad, this is surely his last chance of putting forward a case. He will surely not start for United, but a good cameo will at least remind Fabio Capello that he's alive.

Liverpool

Surely, the debate about what Liverpool fans would rather they did on Sunday is a false one.

The majority verdict in our fans' piece on Wednesday seemed to be that the Scousers of the land would rather their boys beat Chelsea, possibly handing Manchester United a 19th league title, than roll over to ensure the record stays in place.

For one thing, even if United did fail this time, you could argue it would simply delay the inevitable. Both sides are on 18, and as things stand, who's more likely to win another title in the next few years? Liverpool fans might not like it, but United will take the record sooner or later. Surely better to get the pain out of the way.

In any case, this talk has been as if Liverpool are in mid-table, sauntering towards the end of the season with barely a care in the world. This is a side who are a mere two points off Champions League qualification, and with the three sides above them all involved in games against the others, two wins from their final two games might just be enough to secure the spot for Liverpool.

Given their somewhat dismal play over the season, that would be quite an achievement.

pool v chelski last nite? the lesser said the better.

just hope that wigan will blow hot in the final game and hold chelski to a draw at stamford bridge.

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours

we can still be Champion if Wigan plays like what they did, when Chelsea visit there.
or force a draw will also be good enought for us.
and we must beat Stoke and win it with a big margin,at least must match their 7-0 victoru.

Come On Devils ! We Can Do It !

If we do not retain the title (in all probability we won't) its not because of pool but rather the draw with blackburn

We don't need favours from others, and most importantly not from that lot.

We are not in control of our destiny, as chelskis are in driving seat. To now rely on others is foolhardy and desperate. scousers lived up to their name last sun -almost hear some of their negative lobby echoing that result was doing MU in.

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours

Chelsea are pro against weak teams that like to play football... they might run out of luck against those defensive ones though.

I see a dismantling of Wigan.... anyway I'm more interested in United's summer transfers. They need to keep up with crazy spenders City and Chelsea to stay at the very pinnacle of EPL. If Liverpool survive their crisis, and Arsenal/Spurs boosting their squads, we'll get a very exciting 6P for 4 CL spots, with other potential upsets along the season like Everton, Fulham and Villa. They say EPL is the most commercialised league, I say is because it is the most exciting one with battles everywhere - for every higher league spot.
