from what i know the boss HAVE to 100% buy the ticket for the worker if wp have cancel . and he only need to buy the last embak airport the worker come from mean if he need to switch plane from his town to biejing or shanghai airport then to sg . the boss only buy 1 ticket then he or she will have to buy another ticket back to his/her home town ..

Hi, passport is with employer. Oh ya, one other thing i notice is employer usually told the employee that boss will only buy ticket for her to go back if worker wish to renew contract.

After going through your posting of different questions...i realised that u are totally not clear about the situation that your friend is in.

Read my answers for your ALL questions...

Hence, buy ticket dated two weeks later. The scenario which u mentioned that employer don't buy ticket etc is common. Some employer may even deduct worker's last month pay which is also violating Employment Act.

However, if worker failed to leave SG at the date of air ticket provided to MOM, employer will be subjected to the 5k bond. Therefore, employer will ALWAYS ensure WP holder leave SG. They will send the WP holder to airport etc. No chance for WP holder to overstay.

As to who to pay for the air ticket, by right and by the rule is the employer, but then again, it is a chicken and egg situation. Employer dont pay, WP cannot cancel and employer cannot employ other WP when quota is free. If Employee pay, they can leave SG earlier or cancel their WP earlier.

- Overstay more than 60 days and jail term is mandatory + caning.

- Of course they dun entertain calls, the PRC national involved has to go there personally and REGISTER his complaint. The PRC national has to sign some declaration and undertaking before they open file and proceed with the assistance. This is to ensure that the PRC national proceed the case all the way and cannot suka suka withdraw halfway.

The PRC embassy in Singapore is very powerful..... I understand they will contact MM, SM or PM directly if they cannot get any cooperation from the various government departments here.

Not necessarily always the employer...... have to see whether the worker is direct recruit by employer or through agent..... sometimes the deal is the agent is responsible for the airticket.

Bros,

Overstay of up to 3 months will be charged in court in fined.

Overstay of beyond 3 months will be charged in court, fined and jailed of minimum one month. No caning for ladies but caning for guys.

When a person overstay, look for a lawyer to coordinate surrender and plea for leniency in court. ICA appreciates that.

I think the problem lies in business tactic and the employer employee relationship in the lower community. If the worker is direct recruit by agent, the agent will include the ticket fee in the worker's agent fee. So ended up worker is in fact paying for their own air ticket. If worker insists employer to buy air ticket during contract signing, most employer will come out with all sorts of trick to cover the air ticket expense. e.g. no yearly bonus, shorter lunch break, no salary increment, etc.

I know an employer who even ask the employee to pay for the recent extra increase in employer CPF contribution.

One more question, tried calling MOM few times but line busy. Is employer liable to pay for the work permit holder's visit to doctor? Maybe medical insurance at least perhaps.

This will depends on each individual company's H&S (Health & Safety) policy. Most will be covered, but caps at certain amount per year. But again, it all depends on individual company's policy.

The only mandate doctor visit employer needs to pay is the bi-yearly pregnancy test.

I think is compulsory for employer to get accident insurance instead of medical insurance, you can either visit MOM and ask for more information if urgent or email them your quiries.

A friend of mine from PRC is holding a 6-month Work Permit (worked as KTV singer). Can she leave and re-enter Singapore as many times as she wish during this period? Any restriction to which country (like Malaysia) she can go to before re-enter Singapore? Does she need to do anything like apply for any kind of re-entrance permit (or any permit for that matter) before leaving the country?

Kindly advise. Thanks in advanced.

She can leave and re-enter anytime she prefers during validity of her work permit.
