My friend (Sgp Citizen), wife (Indonesian) and two kids (Sgp Citizen) now living in Jakarta for a nos of years.
He had given up on the PR application for his wife after two times. FYI, he graduated in US, worked in Sgp for 4~5 years before he moved to Indonesia. He was still single then.

I think government is more willing to give PR to those whose spouse is paying income tax and contributing CPF.

Sadly, but true... in fact every countries do practise different types of checks before granting PRs to these 2nd-tier group of people. If they are living well in indonesia. Can still stay put for awhile, if not OZ, NZ is another better options. You may be surprised that after emigrating to there, you might not bother to rtn to sinagpore.

Don't think he has plan to move back to Sgp, unless for the children education. In long term, I see loses than gain for the govt not offering the wife PR.

All the while, to reside in Sgp has not been his first choice. The encounter only further discourage him to return. You are right, if there is a better option, I also feel that he may not return.

btw,any bro here had a thai wife.is there a market rate for the 'sin sort' dun know what they call in english.i know abt the 'thorng 9 baht'(999999 baht=41 k sin).but if i were to rom in spore and not in thai.i know that had to depend on the girls parent,but i also need to know a rough guide.thanks

That's depend on the family. No market rate. Normally for above average family 1 million is quite common, others some even 10-100k. U mind telling me how rich is your future parents in law??

Normally, bring her to SG via short term visa abt 14 days, ROM and apply for extension of visa then later apply for PR or longer term visa.

Buy 2 ways ticket. No how many yrs, there are a lot of other conditions to grant a PR.

I know this topic has been discussed before.

I got ROM with my PRC wife in May. I applied for for LTSVP and got the letter stating:

We regret to inform you that your spouse is not eligible for a Long-Term social visit pass. Nevertheless, we are prepared to grant him/her a non-renewable 6-month social visit pass for him/her to look for a job and apply for Work permit or employment pass. While on social visit pass, he/she is not permitted to engage in any form of employment, business, profession or occupation in Singapore.


I called ICA and was told that this is the last chance granted to her for an extended stay in Sillypore. She is told to collect her chop (Pass) and go to MOM to get a letter to look for a job.

I was bemused as well as stressed by it all. This is my first ever LTSVP application for her. As far as I know, she was never in trouble with ICA or Police. I know her for a year already.

I am self employed and my pay had been 30k P.A. for the past 3 years. I submitted all the relevant documents to ICA.

Both our age groups are in the early thirties.

Any advice from the experienced bros here on what to do?

Can I appeal? or Go ahead?

PS: If she gets LTSVP, can she go back to PRC to visit her parents?

I do not think that your vietnamese gf can enter singapore with a ONE WAY ticket. And its not the number of years u have worked, its the amount of salary u are drawing that will decide. Normally, ICA will ask for 3 years of income tax returns. If don't have 3 years, 2 years also can.

I have a friend who same as u earn abt 30k annually. He got to know this PRC who is 1 yr older than him. They ROM in SG. His first application for PR went thru smoothly. So all these depend a lot of other hidden factors which we dunno.

If I'm u, I will try n try again. No harm trying. 1 of my lecturers who told me this, "if u try, there is 50% of success, if u dun try, u r 100% failure".

U can try BMC... dunno whether this suits your budget.
