The Causeway jam is terrible...... last saturday I was supposed to go JB by train shuttle but dunno why was cancelled.
So decided to go in by bus...... knn Woodlands checkpoint really jam packed..... took almost 2 hrs to clear immigration and join the queue for the buses.... another 1 hr of waiting. Finally managed to board 170 and thought JB side should be smooth sailing.... boy how wrong I was. The human jam was even worse at JB immigration side..... so packed that they shut the escalators and the queues stretch all the way down to the bus bays......knn another 2 hrs wait to chop passport. Finally cleared and reach JB Sentral after taking 5 hrs just to cross the border.

Lesson learnt....... never go to JB during the holidays...... I will avoid going in again until next year after school reopens.

My nephew who is currently serving his NS in the SAF was recently denied permission to go JB.
We had no problems doing so in the past as previously he was told can go as long as he is recallable within 4 hrs of activation.
All he had to do was submit a form to his unit MPO and fill in overseas address.
However last week his application form came back stamped "rejected" and RO sent out by unit commander that all personnel cannot go JB even on weekends or off day.

Is this only applicable to his unit or is applicable to all units?
Since when was it implement as all along he had no problems going for day trips to JB with us until now.

My ORD was about 2 years ago. During my time it was already the practice to put up application form for permission if you are leaving the country. But some will risk it and go quietly without permission if it is for just a few hours and hopefully dun get caught or saboed.

Which unit your nephew from? My understanding is that only those units on standby are affected.
