Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
ALEX FERGUSON has warned Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic: You have a fight on to win back your places.
Ferdinand will be fit for Manchester United's home date with Arsenal on Sunday, following a leg injury. Vidic, though, is three weeks away with a calf problem. In their absence, young stars Phil Jones, 19, Jonny Evans, 23, and Chris Smalling, 21, excelled in the back four in Monday's 3-0 win over Tottenham. The United team in that Old Trafford match was the second-youngest boss Ferguson had fielded in Premier League history, with an average age of 23 years 191 days. And now Ferdinand, 32, skipper Vidic, 29, and the rest of the club's established stars know they have a new challenge on their hands to retain regular first-team football. Ferguson said: "Rio and Nemanja are aware of the abilities of the young players. There is no question about that. "When they are both fit, or one of them is, I will have a decision to make." England boss Fabio Capello could reward Smalling with a senior call-up for next month's Euro 2012 qualifiers, while Jones has been selected as part of Stuart Pearce's Under-21 squad. Smalling admitted: "I'd see an England call-up as a bonus. "For now, I'm focused on cementing my place here at Manchester United. "If I can do that, getting selected for England will be easier." It is not just the established defenders who have a battle on their hands. In midfield, 22-year-old Tom Cleverley has laid down the gauntlet to the likes of 30-year-old Michael Carrick, while Dimitar Berbatov, 30, watched as Danny Welbeck, 20, scored one goal and created another in the victory over Spurs.

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
good to see u back here bro yinyang!
yes bro. cleverley looks promising indeed. both he and wellbeck have benefitted much from their loan spells last season with wigan and sunderland respectively. though not in the class of scholes yet, cleverley has a certain calmness yet mixed with youthful enthusiasm about his play. another rising midfielder is paul pogba. both cleverley and pogba are reasons why sir alex has cooled down the interest in wesley sneijder. oh ya, going off topic, go check out bro machoman's post on cleverley's babe in the pics section. she's hot!!

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
i like what i have seen of him so far, but for me, the jury is still out. i will like to see Cleverley to exert more influence in midfield. he is still progressing tho, so i will not judge him yet. Anderson looks more of a beast this season. hope he keeps his performance up

Man U should not have any problems emerging first in Group C but the problem with Man U is they can lose to easy or so called weaker team and especially unknown team or team they have not played against previously. Mark my words, Man U should emerge as first in their group BUT THEY COULD MAKE LIFE DIFFICULT FOR THEMSELVES. However, I am thinking where to watch this Sunday's game.........coffee shop or a nice quite place. Hahaha I recalled last year when Man U was playing against Liverpool in the FA cup where DK first took over and Liverpool lost. I was watching the game in a hotel lounge and did not know most of the people there were anti Man U so you can image those remarks passed and they all took it on the ref. Hahaha feel like going there this Sunday. |

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
WHAT A MATCH! WHAT A GAME! UNBELIEVEABLE!
Man U 8 Arsenal 2 Who would believe. The fire power from these Man U players are just awesome. In 3 matches they scored 13 goals. Though I am not an Arsenal supporter but I do feel sorry for them. If Man U was playing against any lower team and with this scoreline maybe it won't surprise many people but with Arsenal which is one of the top team in the EPL and 8 goal went pass them, it was just fantastic for Man U. Worst off, in as many as 3 matches they (Arsenal) had 3 players sent off. For those who miss the match, look out for the MUTV over channel 5 tomorrow at 11pm. I think the match would be telecast. |

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
PREMIER LEAGUE: Rooney hat-trick as Man Utd put eight past ten-man Arsenal
Monday, August 29, 2011 Arsenal’s defensive woes were cruelly exposed by a rampant Manchester United who took the Gunners apart at Old Trafford in a comprehensive 8-2 victory. Arsenal's only win in their last nine league games came when these two met at the Emirates Stadium on May Day, but any hopes this was a lucky omen for a change in fortune for the Gunners was quickly dispelled as Arsene Wenger’s men found themselves 3-1 down at the break. Woeful defending by the North London side was taken advantage of at every opportunity by a dominate Old Trafford outfit who never let Arsenal settle. Danny Welbeck set the goal fest on its way as the visitor’s dithered at the back but then came the turning point of the game as Arsenal were given the opportunity to level the scores from the penalty spot after Theo Walcott was pulled back. But a weak effort from Robin Van Persie was easily saved by David De Gea and within a minute the host’s had doubled their advantage. Ashley Young collected the ball 20 yards out and curled a delightful effort past Wojciech Szczesny. On 41 minutes Wayne Rooney scored the first of three then Walcott gave Arsenal hope with a strike in first half injury time. But any hopes Arsenal had learnt lessons from the opening 45 minutes were quickly dispelled as United went goal crazy. Rooney made it four just after the hour then Nani dinked a cheeky chip over Szczesny with the Gunners rearguard in disarray. Substitute Ji-Sung Park had barely made an appearance before he was on the score sheet. Van Persie pulled another goal back for the visitor’s but this was hardly a consolation as United continued to score at will. If Wenger thought things couldn’t get any worse Carl Jenkinson was shown red for a second yellow card for hauling down Hernandez. Rooney claimed the match ball by dispatching a penalty after Patrice Evra was fouled and Young completed the scoring with his second of the afternoon in injury time. Old Trafford was in raptures with chants of 'you're getting sacked in the morning' directed at the Arsenal boss who side’s shortcomings were well in evidence. Referee: Howard Webb Venue: Old Trafford Attendance: 75,448 Man Utd scorers: Welbeck 22, Young 28, 90, Rooney 40, 64, 82(pen) Nani, 67, Park 70 Arsenal scorers: Walcott 45, Van Persie 74 Yellow cards: Djourou (ARS), Jenkinson (ARS), Arshavin (ARS), Young (MAN U), Evans (MAN U) Red Cards: Jenkinson (Ars) |

Quote:
He does not play as well as before, as compared with the time that he was at Spurs. It could probably due to different playing style. In fact, I rather have a youth player than him. We should really sell him to PSG (if the rumours are true) to recoup part of the 30.75 million that we splashed on him before. Afterall, we have so many strikers on the bench. They migh not be as class as him, but they are hardworking.

To paraphrase what I heard on the video this morning, "Everyone is entitled to be lazy. But you are abusing the privilege!"
