Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips

Firstly don't expect too much from the rooms in Phoenix Hotel.

I paid about Peso 1,400 net for the room. The beds and toilets were clean. The aircon works but not the best around coz the place is basically quite an oldish hotel. I guess you pget what you pay for.

The good points were that the recep was very helpful and friendly. So's the hotel drivers. They can give you a lot of information if you only ask. The restaurant food ain't too bad as well.

The not so good points are that it's a bit further away from the main area of fields. I hear it's starting to get wet in Angeles and staying a bit too far away may not be advisable. I did manage to walk to Fields which took me approx 15 minutes stroll.

Perhaps you can have a look at this website for more info and choices.

Hotel Angeles City Philippines, Hotels Angeles

Hope this helps. I think there is quite an accurate map of the fields area and the bars. Let me check and I'll post the link. You can then get an approximate feel of the area.

Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips

And yes the rooms in Phoenix Hotel are carpeted but not much to shout about. I was grateful that for the price I paid I got a place for a shower, clean sheets and cable tv. The rooms were supposedly internet ready but I did not bring my laptop to try.

For the maps of the area try

tomrich.sakura.ne.jp/angeles.html or search for waynes acmap

But beware the weather.

Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips

I stayed at Central Park Hotel. The prices are reasonable and the room is allright. The sister hotel Pacific is also good. Both are right smack in the middle of the bar strip at fields avenue.

I read a fellow samster posting this hotel earlier called Grand Lewis. Looks very interesting.

Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips

this thread seems to be growing by the day.

guys i will be in AC from may end for a few days.

will be staying either at tiger or ramada.

more convenient for me to go SM for lunch at flavours of china. hopefully the restaurant still exists? i also tried shanghai palace (not at sm) further away.

usually at AC i have my lunch at flavours of china cause i do not seem to get my servings of vegetables anywhere else.

bros here know of any other good chinese restaurants along fields (not chow king please)

i need my servings of fruits and veg haha.
any guys wanna meet up during the period kindly pm me.

Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips

Bro Ziebart and Bro Ah hia

can you guys please help me on this one.

according to philippine customs you cant bring in more than p10000.

how do i get over this rule?

on 2 occassions i have been asked by customs to show me my wallet.

i mean i told the guy if i dun bring money how to pay for hotel food and everything else. in the end he let me go. but not before warning me that he actually has the right to confiscate the money. so guys i honestly dun no what to do on this count.

my friend had a similar experience as well.

Do you guys know of any atms where cirrus network works in angeles?

Sure, at SM Mall, just 5 or 10 minutes walk from Balibago. Just about directly opposite ABC Hotel, on other side of perimeter fence. Stupid trike will ask you 100p to go there. Better walk, or get one that will take you for 50p. Still too ex for that short distance.

I was at Angeles City between 8th May to 10th May with 2 of my frens. It was just a short 1st trip there. It is really an eye opener.
Would like to thank Bro Ziebart for his hospitality.
You are really wonderful. Showing us around, explaining to us the so called procedures of cheonging. You are a very patient man Bro Ziebart.
For a newbie like us, your expert advise and explaination is very important.
Thank you Bro Ziebart.

yes bro rocks off the trikes are reall arse holes. the way they behave and quote prices sucks.

from fields to perimter standard price is about 80 - 100 peso

i never got anyone to take me for 50peso.

You haven't heard the whole story yet I get in and say we go to SM Mall. I only do that because I feel in a good mood and want to give him some business, although it's completely unnecessary for the short distance. It wasn't even too hot that day. We get there (about 1 minute later) and I hand him 50. He looks insulted and says it's 100. I say I pay 50 before. He say it's 100, if I don't want to pay 100 he takes me back to where we started. I say fine, up to you, and get back in the trike. He's surprized, but takes me back to the starting point (grumbling all the way, and parking so that we're right next to a ditch on my side). I get out and walk 50m to the next bunch of trikes. The 2nd one I ask agrees to 50.

Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips

bro rocksoff what an interesting story that one.

when i asked one of the trike guys for p50 you know what he said... he said place the p50 note on the ground stand on it and go to your location.

what a bastard?

these guys are so poor yet they behave this way! i dun look down on anyone but i believe this is wrong attitude to working.

imagine in singapore if we have this attitude at work we will be sacked in no time

yes many a times the trike is unnecessary. we usually take it to give the guy some business. yet these guys behave like mafia.

even at night from fields if you are going to the hotels around perimeter the rate is about p100. you can bargain down to p70. usually after a long bargain they will agree.
