One thing though, Phuket is especially expensive during the high seaso, which coincides with the dry season starting from around now to the end of the Chinese New Year holidays. For me, i'll recommend to hang out in phuket town, then either go punpon to get a happy ending or back to hollywood/tiger for buyback.....

Maybe a little troublesome, yes, and having own transport is a must, i'll rather pay for the car then to be at their mercy......which there isn't any...

LOL!!!

I wouldn't worry too much in Phuket or in the rest of Thailand actually.

Just go to the bar area, which in Phuket is Patong, although there are bars all over the place and the girls will waylay you!!

It's their job to get guys into their bar and they'll practically drag you inside!

As far as rates, first thing first, you better be aware that the bars will levy you a "bar fine" which goes to the bar owner (but which the girl will take a bit of a cut), and the actual "cost of the bonk" is to be negotiated on top of that. Both items are quite variable one place to another, One hour vs a later hour, one girl to another and especially one customer to another - they Loooove to fleece the shy newbies!!

So do negotiate and do NOT give any hints that you're really out of your depth and especially do NOT be too eager and you should be OK. And decent bar fines should run you around the THB 500-1K and overnight fees on top should be circa 1,000 - 2,000. All depends on your bargaining power.

Being there and done it. Easy, car rental guy will meet and greet you on arrival at airport. Car in airport car park and off you go (after signing off paper work and $$). Drop your car off at airport.

Easy to do round island drive, with maps and signs (I survived without paying extra for GPRS in car). Rates for 24hr period is circa 1-1.2k (2 years ago, maybe up due to high season) for basic Jazz or Vios. Plenty to choose from web sites. Also bro Seaj said same stuff last month.
