Vietnamese are pretty advanced in farming; for example they put ‘spot lights’ in dragon fruit plantation at night to double the yield. Some are also the victims of their own success like last year there was huge bumper crop of lychee, the quantity so much, the price became lau-sai.

But we city slickers what we know about durians except pay through the nose to enjoy the satiety of the illusive varietal. Better stick to chasing skirts as our subject matter expertise

Worst part is, even before the durians got any chance to ripen & drop, they practically plucked all of them and ripen it using some chemicals including dipping them into a colouring solution to make it look nicely ripen

Previously got 1 well-known case & wetnam syndicate kena caught and their whole process was revealed to the press

Wah...now talk about king of fruits. My favourite!

Seriously tho sometimes I rather give direct to that old lady tottering in the streets collecting plastic bottles & cans, at least I know I made a direct impact on her life altho may not be much but the look on her face is more than thanks enough

Just a few days ago me & my other SBF kaki Brokenback gave 200k each to this grand old lady with a walking stick that was always sitting at the entrance to our small sidestreet to our apartment, she was busy munching on a stick of corn (cos cheap to buy) while clutching her bag of plastic bottles that she have just collected and this was already almost 1am, I told her that this is for food and she replied "son, may god bless you", that really lifted my spirits altho I'm not a religious person.....

Cheerios........SS08 ^_^

Yes I saw this video too.
I HV eaten durians from Phnom Penh, near Phnom Penh airport and sihanoukville, all of them were those unripe type similar to those Thai durians. So I guess before the durian ripe, they already pluck the durians to sell, so I was wondering is it that the Cambodian people prefer to eat unripe durians.

Even in kep province, the durians sold were those big and unripe type. I thought kampot durians are suppose to be one of the best but so far I've never come across ripe kampot durians being sold.

When I was in Ha Tian, the durians sold were those ripe ones and the taste quite similar to those durians in Malaysia.

So I wonder are durians sold in Vietnam ripe ones. However, at my friends wife village up in cam mountain , I ate durians that were ripe and dropped to the ground and it's quite nice but still not as good as Malaysian durians. However they just planted 100 good quality grafted durian trees.

Previously, at my friends wife village up in cam mountain , their big piece of slopy land were uncultivated because they claimed that they were poor. It was my friend who keep pestering them to plant durian trees and so they did at our recent visit. And so this give me an idea that maybe we should talk to those villages to strike some joint venture.

This picture taken by me in HaTien

Durians in Vietnam especially the best species Ri6 weighs about 2 to 3kg per fruit...if they dropped chances the fruit will be smashed...so what they did was to cut the stem after durian matured...then they hold the fruits to ripen for 2 to 3 days...

This may be all from a 3kg fruit but the taste and fragrant was amazing...

OK I will take note of this Ri6.

For durian lovers, up in genting highland, there's a guy who sell an assortment of all good durians. Basically it's 35ringget a kilo, all 100% kampong durians. Opposite Maxim hotel there is a big multi storey carpark, at this carpark below, there is a taxi driver canteen, his makeshift stall is just outside this canteen, he operate only in the afternoon. When I was in genting , everyday I eat his durians....... All solid good ones. He also sell a type of durian call Black something. I love the durian type call TAWAL, the bitter type.

OK, here are some pictures taken by me. After exiting Cambodia immigration in Ha Tien, one got to walk to the Vietnam immigration.

This picture is after passing Cambodia immigration.

===========================================
In ha tien I stayed at this budget hotel

,=================================
Below is my room in Ha Tien Vegas casino resort, it's A very big room and of course I got it free because I gambled in their casinos. To get free rooms, all you need to do is approach the casino captain and tell them you wish to be rated for the free room. Then just sit down and gamble at any stakes you like, after about 1 to 2hrs they will give you a free room, that's all, quite simple.

I went yesterday, the most portion of the hall is under renovation. Will resume the area on in mid September. Small lounge still in operation. Many many many girls with quality. But i went there for drinks and ambience only.
But still a very nice place to go. Imho.

Re: All Vietnam Related TCSS / Info / Gatherings / Help Thread

I just wonder, have any members here ever sent money from Singapore to Vietnam.

On 12 August 2019, My friend sent money from Singapore to Vietnam via Western Union. The receiving bank is VIETNAM BANK FOR AGRICULTURE AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT.

Western union have already sent the money to the receiving bank, Agribank. However the money is still not credited into my friends wife bank account. I wonder what is happening, could it be that Agribank take a few days to process this remittance.

Is this the first time your friend sent money using WU...

IMO - usually takes a 3 to 5 working days if all in order...ie. bank account correct with full details matched...

on 12/8 is a Singapore public holiday...WU will not sent money yet...they will start processing on 13/9 or 14/9....then Agri bank in Vietnam may not credit till probably Monday 19/9 or Tuesday 20/9...

If I am your friend...will just send to her name with ID number and let her collect the cash at any WU...rather than credit to bank...

Hi, thanks for info again, you are right it's better to receive from western union.

So the nearest place to cam mountain that have western union is in the town of Tinh Binh.
By the way around all these towns sometimes I see ktv, are they pick up joints.

You mountain turtle, walking ATMs visit Cam Mountain every so often. Ask the residents, and I don’t have to go to that mountain to know. Neither have I claimed to have gone to that coordinate before. Please read my statements with a pinch of salt. I cannot tell you the actual coordinates of the places I left my footprints since sometimes I go incognito. The ops is so clandestine it is operated in the darkness
