Re: Understanding Vietnamese Life Partner
SingViet,
I understand from your previous thread that you have a son with your 2nd wife in Vietnam. Since you only did customary marriage with her, how did you register your son for his birth certificate in Vietnamese hospital? I thought that the hospital will require Vietnamese marriage certificate first before proceeding with it. |

Re: Understanding Vietnamese Life Partner
For guys here who are hoping to have a good Vietnamese girlfriend, I will advise you guys to take some spare time off and fly to Vietnam. Really, there is no point looking for love from Vietnamese working ladies in Joo Chiat and Geylang. Vietnam's population currently stands at about 86.5 millions. Most match-making agencies in Singapore are real b******. It is much cheaper to explore around Vietnam and befriend some Vietnamese women. I had been to Vietnam (Saigon and Hanoi) many times since 2004. About myself, I am an educated Singapore white-collared man who have a Vietnamese wife from North Vietnam.
I don't think that most North Vietnamese women ever want to marry Western men. My sisters-in law and some friends of mine confirmed with me. Only 10 to 15% North Vietnamese women want that. It is different as compared to South Vietnamese women. So far, my wife has been very good to me. I know her for about 1 year before we got married. Her family is very big and is not rich at all. And my wife never ask me for money to remit back to her family in Vietnam. Not even once due to my wife's refusal for my financial assistance to her family. She even told me that her family can manage on their own. Some of her siblings are working in Saigon while her 2 siblings are waiting to enter university. It is very rare for us to talk about money. I always give her $20 each day for her to buy grocery and her daily meals. I always handle the financial aspects in the household. She is studying English everyday and we communicate to each other in Vietnamese. As for our daily lives, she always put out the shoes for me to wear when I leave home for work and always wait for me at the door to welcome me home from work. I feel so blessed. I don't think many Singapore wives will do that to their husbands. But my wife can be very jealous sometimes when I occasionally talk to my Vietnamese friends online. I can tell you that a lot of Vietnamese women are very jealous by nature. Know what? The number of divorce cases is fast increasing in big Vietnamese cities now. |

Re: Understanding Vietnamese Life Partner
Bro, if they have a choice, no gal will want to leave their home to work overseas....same for all nationalities....their wages in Vn is too low and their culture forces Vn gal to work to bring money back to family if they are poor....if you have read the previous posts, you will understand Vn men can sit around and do nothing....so if you want to marry Vn gal then be prepared for such culture....

They are the 3rd world country, and theriocally with less foriegn investment, less jobs created, less money to spend, less exposure to western culture, I would have brand them as more conservative. But it seems they are more liberal than us Singaporeans, cos I haven't come across our local case of single parent w/o marriage in such vast numbers. Ours are the typical divorce with or without child. As for myself, I have chosen my path. Unless she comes over and decide to roam back to JC, then it is obvious. I will ask her to fly kite. While I understand and believes that there are viet gals who would never leave the "cycle", I cannot in fairness stereotyped her, unless proven gulity. For in any types of relationship, it works both ways. As much as I can stereotyped her, so can she to me; " am I just an asshole who wants a relationship to milk as much sex as possible only??" It is a guessing game with lousy ending. The "cycle" So how does a person avoid falling into it. A decent job back at Vietnam? Does a decent job require some form of educational level? And if some jobs do not require, will the pay-out be sufficient to make ends meets? And what are the "ends" to meet? I understand the lower pays is SGD100 max, so some bros are correct to say one month in SG is equal to thier 5 to 7 months decent job pay. Because of our stronger currency, they have the luxury to exploit on this advantage. But, is the SGD100 max salary a sufficient solution? What other solution is available to poor and uneducated families in a decent way? Does family financial standing play a part? These words are purely my tots. |
