Difficulty accessing SBF when using Starhub Cable

Maybe it has nothing to do with our local network service providers. The boss should confirm whether the problem has to do with anything at the server end...

I had the same experience. Quite impossible to get in for the past few days, but so easy to login today.

I had problems as well accessing using Starhub cable. Access was only restored about 9pm today. I am heading overseas next week and will try from Hong Kong and test the access there. If there is a server side issue, access should also be problematic from there. I will post a reply here in about a week's time.

I am documenting the issues I am facing and hope anyone else with similar experience can kindly share.

1. interruptions began around afternoon of 9-Dec
2. using Chrome browser, I got an error message
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.
3. tried pinging www.sammyboyforum.com, got all data packets lost
4. later, tried accessing www.sammyboyforum.com and got the home page. Tried logging on using userid and got same error message as above.
5. clear all cookies and cache; tried again and got same problem
6. tried using Internet Explorer, same problem.
7. at around 9pm 11-Dec, problem seems to have solve itself. Been logging off and on for the last 2 hours with no problems.

Are you also having similar experience, please reply and let all know. Administrators will probably need this info to troubleshoot. Hope this helps.

I have the same problem and tried almost the same remedy method as you bro. i'm using SH cable cannot log in..tried with my Iphone with M1 also cannot log in for the past few days.. I'm so glad now able to get my daily dosage of medicine to stop the itch...
By the way, i've tried IE, chrome and mozilla..

Currently no prob on SH wifi. iPhone M1 3G still can't access. If run on 3G, need either use hidemyass or opera browser.

I haven't done anything. How a device in Singapore connects to the server is pretty much beyond my control.

I can fix database problems. I can fix apache problems. If the server is overloaded, I can upgrade to a new server.

The server is in the USA. I'm in OZ. You guys are in Singapore. I tried connecting to my own site using 3G, WiFi and cable all worked perfectly.

There were more than 1 million page views yesterday which is record traffic and the server load is well within limits.

I suggest that if you can't connect, do a traceroute with a network that works and then the one that is causing your grief t to see where it comes to grief. Forward these traceroute results to your service provider.

Trace the hops to 91.206.227.228

For the past few days, I have problem logging on SBF when at home, using Starhub. Its weird though, when I change to use Ipad using home wifi, cannot log onto SBF at all. However when I change to 3G, I can log onto SBF all the time without any problem.

Just wondering...how come ur server in U.S not in like Asia assuming most of us are all from Singapore. Me not techie but wldn't that mean we have to do more hops to get to your server as compared if it was in Asia?

Our traffic is probably blocked by the gahmen/telco proxies. Our traffic is not encrypted right? Maybe the gahmen does packet level sniffing and all our data is viewed or analyzed..hehe...what a tot...

Do you use loadbalancing for Sammyboy forum? That way even if gahmen tries to clamp down on ur site, it can route traffic to another IP address...

I'm having the same problem again. Since Friday, I had been unable to log on via my laptop at home using Starhub modem. Then, it worked fine when I logged on on Sunday. Since Monday (yesterday), it's the same problem again and really frustrating.

Funnily, I can use 3G via my Starhub mobile line to log on from home using my iPhone4. To test, I switched to WiFi on my mobile and had the same problem. I called up Starhub this evening and asked why am I having such problems, of course not revealing the website I have problems accessing. I just told them generally that I could not access some websites and asked why. I was even asked to connect my laptop directly to the modem and see if I could access, but still unable to, which confirms that my wireless router is perfectly ok. The guy I spoke to did seem to suggest that they do sometimes block some sites, but was not specific. I also confirmed with the guy that my account does not have "Safesurf".

Any other brothers are still having the problem or have managed to resolve it? If you have managed to completely resolve it, how did you do it? I am posting this by using "Hide My Ass", which seems to be the only way I can acces SBF. Really wasting my time and I am certain Starhub has something to do with this. SBF is like our daily dosage and it's been boring only accessing via my iPhone as the screen is too small.

chey, i already tried tat day and told the gal liao y i cant surf tis forum ... she tested over there and said same problem with her screen when surfing tis forum ma, then said it could be the server problem from tis forum, then boss said no problem with the server leh.. so lan lan use proxy lor, even now me using the same way as u did...

Hi Bro, I still cannot log on from home. Am only able to browse SBF via Hidemyass. Very frustrating. I wonder if brothers using M1 & SingTel are facing this issue. Since Friday, I have only been able to log on one day for a while. Damn irritating not getting my daily "medicine"...
