He is what is known as Viet Keu. Offspring of Vietnamese boat people but he couldn't find acceptance in his adopted land and must have committed a crime. Hence he scooted back to VN to try to make ends meet as a pimp.

In VN, the locals dun really trust the VKs. They are seen as descendants of traitors, ppl who fled the country in troubled times instead of staying back like the majority to re-build the country into what it is today. Hence they have no part to play in the growth of VN's economy. Rather they are seen as opportunists, coming back to the country only when it is stable and growing economically.

That's so sad. We accept everyone in our country and only the real losers and drug users fail to make it here. When someone fails to assimilate it is sometimes because of a mental condition. This may be the case here. I scrolled back and saw that I am not the first person to notice his instability and insecurity.

We really do need to publish a detailed list of venues for newbies so that they can find places easily without paying him $80 for a tour of the outskirts.
