Hmm... very good Qn there. You can't serve Army to get PR. I only know you will get citizenship after you made your sworn and join NS when you are 21 yo. But before that you need to be PR first. Maybe he can try to offer his proposal to MINDEF.

That's true. I remember last time I wanna look for a MP (who was formerly my co ex-director) for assistance but was shoved away by his P.A.

First of all i want to thank all bros in advance.
Thanks to bro Rof|maoxz for his endless help but i really still am confused as im faced with new probs.

I really need help here. I am about to get my Chinese Marriage Cert and proceed with my chinese wedding procedure in China.

I really really appreciate all help and advice on the following:

1) I want to bring my wife over to Singapore using the Chinese Marriage Cert. I have already filed for a Solemnisation date online and it is in November. However by the time i return to Singapore after my Chinese marriage proceedings and apply for her social visit pass to come over, it will take about 3-4 weeks to process and it will definetly overshoot my Solemnisation date which is in november. Please dear bros advice what i can do.

2) If i miss my Solemnisation date due to her visit pass not approved quick enough, what can i do? Can she stay in Singapore while waiting for a new Solemnisation date? Whats the best procedure i can do?


Please please advice as i have gone all stressed reading the procedures at ICA's website. Those bros who have really gone through all the hardship just to be with your foreign wife, i salute u.

Dear brothers, pls correct me if I'm wrong :
1. If you get married (civil marriage) in China, you no longer need to to do it here in Singapore. Just need to get it endorsed by ROM. Solemnise here again is considered as "Re-married" and is a crime leh.

2. If you get your China ROM Cert, you can use that to apply for her VISA and SVP here. Maybe can do that in the Singapore Overseas Missions (Beijing, Guanzhou, Xiamen, Shanghai, etc) before you and your wife come over.

ICA website also make me blur. Thanks to brothers here sharing their experiences, I learn.

Hi bro, thanks for your prompt reply. When you say civil marriage, are u referring to the traditional marriage customs or the china marriage certificate(the little red booklet) i will get after i register my marriage in China with her shortly. So is it confirmed that when i return by myself to Singapore first, i bring the China marriage certificate/booklet and endorse it at Singapore ROM? No need to file for date and solemnise again? After that i have to apply 2 things, a VISA and a short term visitor pass for her?

No need to get it endorse by ROM. Just update your status to "married". In some countries when a foreigner man wants to marry a local ger, the man needs to produce a doc declaring himself single in his country, so if u dun update your status, u can marry another ger....

So if its true that i can just "update" or endorse my china ROM Cert, will i get a certificate from singapore ROM to proof to ICA that i have married and use that to apply for my wife's stay in Singapore?? Thanks.

No offence, my immediately suggestion to you is, call up the relevant authorities to clear your doubt. I am not questioning abt the info from fellow bros, as the regulations may have changed or differ, really No point for you to stick to the forum when you said time is running out. Also, we can only up you with our rep power, cannot approve your visa with that....

Before you get your marriage register in China soon, I wonder have you declared/notorised/endorsed your single status?

To answer some of your questions, from what I know (Again,I would sugges that you check with the relevant authorities for firm answer),
1) The Sgp ROM recognised all foreign countries marriage certificate/booklet, there is no need for you to endorse with them and I don't think they will issue you any marriage certificate.

However, you may want to consider to translate your China Marraige Booklet into English, notorise and endorse them for future usage.

2) As you are going to register your marriage in China, I think you can simply apply a social visit pass for her. Or may be can use the marriage booklet to apply visa for her or simply be her sponsor/guarantor. Suggest you call up Singapore embassy or consulate in China. In Shanghai.....http://www.mfa.gov.sg/shanghai/

Frankly, I don know why you have to rush your marriage, especially when you have earlier asked......china girl marrying different foreign men in different provinces? This is possible when she got herself with fake documents.

Haizzzz for the benefits of all, below is an offical Q&A from ROM of SG. Take extra time and understand point 1.

What are the common things I need to know, as a Singaporean/PR who have married overseas?

1) The law does not require couples who contracted marriages overseas to re-register (includes "converting" or "endorsing" a foreign marriage certificate) with the Singapore ROM. The marriage certificate issued by the competent authority of the foreign country may be accepted as prima facie evidence of a marriage between the parties named in the certificate.

2) You may update agencies which you have dealings with, about your new marital status. For example, you may wish to update your marital status with CPF Board (Central Provident Fund) to change nomination of CPF beneficiary.

3) If you wish to insert your husband's name into your identification documents, you may contact the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority.

4) If your spouse is a foreigner and you like to obtain permanent residence or citizenship for him/her, you may seek the advice of the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority.

All other languages doc need to be translate to English and certified by authority.

Hi really appreciate your reply. First of all yes i am single and have notarised my single status.

1) Thanks, so there is no need to endorse the china marriage cert, initially i thought without the Singapore marriage cert, i cannot apply for her social visit pass.

2) Again thanks, i will try to apply for her pass once i have finished my wedding and obtained the certificate. Its the applying part which is so stressful as i initially didnt know what to do.

Lastly, not say wanna rush lah, but what can one do when 2 people are really in love and want to live with one another.
