joke aside, not sure going to marriage counselling for ur frenz n his wife do help or not. If his wife insists on divorce, latest by 3 years he got no choice but to divorce. Actually what is ur frenz concern, do u know? still for feeling? afraid of monetary lose, child (any?), or...???

Provide a listening ear by all means.....but please stop helping him to find ways to legally avoid a divorce bec there isn't one as divorce is bet them. The court will grant one....one way or another. All he's gonna do is hurt himself and even cause greater harm to himself and his love ones and friends; it may even make his wife move further away.

He is emo...he is depressed....we get it. As a friend, get him to go for professional help. He needs stop `running away' the fact that the wife is initiating a divorce; it is a fact, accept it.

Marriage is the ultimate commitment be a couple; when one is no longer committed....divorce follows. Hope u can get him help to wake up and work on salvaging the marriage if that is his intent and if tat doesn't transpire, make it as painless as possible so that the possibility that they can still be friends....at least. Had been telling him the pro and cons of running away from the court and lawyers.
Seems like he just need some time to accept the fact that the div is been filed

Can't think of any pros in running away from the legal proceedings. Most likely now he still in the state of shock and refused to accept the decision. As some bros mentioned and my divorce lawyer once told me, even if one party refused, the divorce still can proceed and be finalize. If his wife is determine to leave, nothing he can do. Unless he made some mistakes which caused this, then there might be still hope.

So true. In a situation like this, he/she will only be thinking of their 委屈 but not of their mistakes. There's always two sides to the coin.
