Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Just received an email from Liverpool. The grey jersey is confirmed our new away jersey. It looks a bit shiny from the photos in the email and there are little squares that make up the patterns on the jersey. It's officially launched today. In my opinion, I prefer last season's away jersey.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
We will not be held to ransom in transfer market!!!
Liverpool last night warned that they will not be held to ransom in the summer transfer market. Manager Rafa Benitez has been thwarted in his aim to bring Gareth Barry and James Milner to Anfield. Aston Villa want a staggering £20million for their skipper Barry, while Newcastle insist midfielder Milner will not be allowed to leave for less than £10m. Even unheralded players Benitez had his eye on such as Albert Riera come with vastly inflated price tags. Espanyol want £12m for left winger Riera, even though he has only one Spain cap and failed in the Prem with Manchester City. That has led Benitez to rethink his strategy, and he is now ready to turn his back on the deals he has pursued and walk away if necessary. He has been linked with Valencia's international winger David Silva, but only if the price is right. In contrast Liverpool believe they have been more realistic when it comes to selling their players. And yesterday they came down in their valuation of John Arne Riise to allow the defender to move to Roma for £4m. They have also come to a compromise with Juventus over the £14m sale of midfielder Xabi Alonso to Juventus. And they are prepared to negotiate for want-away England striker Peter Crouch. That should give Benitez around £30m to spend on new signings and he has made it clear to the club's owners that he will not be held to ransom. But there is some hope for Rafa over the Barry deal, as Villa have signed fellow midfielder Steve Sidwell from Chelsea, which suggests they are prepared to move closer to Liverpool's £15m offer Mirror.co.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Exclusive!!! Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has added Spain's David Silva to his wish-list, after tiring of 'ludicrous' demands for other summer targets. And Benitez will be helped in his pursuit of the midfielder as his chief scout is the player's mentor. The player is in the Spain team that has taken the European Championship by storm with a 100 per cent record so far. But Silva's Valencia club are in financial trouble, and have made it known that they are prepared to sell him and fellow Spain star David Villa. Benitez has grown tired of the sky-high price tags placed on the wide players he has targeted - with Aston Villa's Gareth Barry, Albert Riera of Espanyol and Newcastle's James Milner all vastly overpriced in his opinion. After a discreet approach from Valencia, Benitez has expressed firm interest in the left-winger. The big stumbling block is the fee, with Valencia asking in excess of £20million. But Benitez believes he has two trump cards. Firstly, Valencia have to sell because of their money worries, and while they will demand a huge fee, they are almost certain to settle for less. The La Liga club have to fork out around £20m a month in loans and interest payments on their new stadium. And while publicly they insist they do not want to lose any of their big stars, privately they have contacted several clubs to gauge interest in Silva and Villa. Liverpool are also keen on Villa, but with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea circling, the striker will be out of any Anfield price range. But the Reds have a strong connection with Silva that could tip the scales. Anfield chief scout Eduardo Macia worked with Silva as a youngster at Valencia. Macia was a youth team coach when the player broke through to their B team. He helped Silva get a loan to feeder club Eibar, which set the winger on the road to glory. Silva remembers that, and still keeps in touch with his old pal Macia. Mirror.co p/s :He scored a good goal against chelsea last 2 seasons in champ league....

It's more interesting that Gillette has claimed a ceasefire with Hicks and that relations are improving and that Rafa will have money for transfers. |

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Personally, i would reali luv to see D Silva & D Villa join the ranks at liverpool. While the former may seem more like a possibility but I'd certainly like to see Villa donning our Mersey red colors as well... and if he does come.. he can wear the vacated and coveted famous No. 7 jersey. While I do understand that we do not have the spending powers of either R Madrid or Chelsea (and the competition for his signature is just going to get harder if he excels further in Euro) but I'd would be watching out (after Euro 08) keenly as to where Villa would be heading for his next footballing career destination.

As for Silva, he would be a good capture, certainly will make us stronger on the wings, and he could get the goals too.

have been trying to find out more information on that too, but seems like nothing else is being said, might be good if both owners are talking and more $$ be available, not just for signing, but also the new stadium......

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Actually I don't understand. If Valencia is in debt and we need to 'raid' them for players, why aren't we linked in any way to Joaquim? We do need someone better than Pennant or Kuyt on our right wing too. Unless we have reserved that place for Bentley...
If Silva comes as a left midfielder, do we still sign Expensive Barry? I hope we can sell Carson and get a decent 2nd goalie too. Itandje seems shaky. We cannot assume Reina wun ever get injured or something. |

ENABLING WORKS START ON NEW LFC STADIUM
Liverpoolfc.tv 24 June 2008 Liverpool City Council granted full planning permission on June 19 to Liverpool Football Club to build a 60,000 seater stadium and outline planning permission for a mixed use development on the existing Anfield stadium site. The stadium will incorporate a club shop, conference and banqueting facilities, parking for almost 1,000 vehicles and a Community Partnership centre. Its design is ultimately capable of accommodating up to 73,000 people subject to further planning permission. LFC has instructed Laing O'Rourke to commence enabling works under a licence issued by the Liverpool City Council. Works started on June 23. Looks like we are stuck with TH & GG. |

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
So he's dropped... I wondered if he was injured. Spain dropped such a good player? I've always been asking for us to buy Joaquim leh. I think i said so a few times in this thread. We seem to be thinking of buying all the good players from Rafa's old Valencia. Silva had a good game last night in the semis. Quite young ah at 22.

i'm very new here in SBF but not a new Reds fan. I'm juz shocked to see a large fan base here and a very active threads of Reds forum. It can match the forum at liverpoolfc.tv any day. There are really gd updates here on exclusive news and transfer markets. I def will be a reg here whenever my mind is away from sex. I truly wish Rafa will purchase both D.Villa and D.Silva if not juz one of them i think will strengthen our already gd squad. Cant wait for our opener against Sunderland.
