Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Anyone watch LFC TV on channel 116 on SCV last night? It's our official TV channel with news from Anfield. I mentioned this channel many times here. Any bros watched anything before? Should come free with your sports package.
There was a live phone in session where people call to discuss our transfer news. There is a view that the best players in the mid-range clubs should think about getting a move to Liverpool to enjoy top European exposure such as the Champions League. Some of the desired names that come up include Barry (Villa), Bentley (Blackburn) and Downing (Boro). Downing is quoted at 10million pounds. Quite ok leh These players are England players who do not get regular top level European exposure. the view is that it impedes their growth as players. Regular Champions League exposure will also help them climb up the england pecking order. Bentley is the first choice right midfielder in the England squad these days. How can he remain so inexperienced facing defenders from other soccer leagues? So the call is for these players to move either to the top 4 or to other top teams to gain good exposure. Thinking abt it, I realised that a lot of the England players don't have regular Champions League exposure. Players like Downing, Barry, Bentley, Lennon, etc... If this view gets propogated, i think it will be an interesting development in the transfer market. |

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
ya bro...there are a lot of english players that till today have not been involved in a top level european matches before..
if lpool did get barry and downing , they will become a better player themself... look at hargreaves , who is he if bayern did not involve in the champ league years ago?i might dont even know him... (perhaps) who is carrick if he keeps on playing for west ham or spurs previously before he really join utd? (no disrexpect ya) Downing we knew him the moment he played for england and he will be a better player if lpool or any top 3 clubs bought him... i just wish the board will give a good transfer kitty to Mr benitez and make this coming season a season to be remembered..

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
With Chelsea looking for big name foreign players, Man U with a big enough sqaud and difficulty in keeping players happy with limited play time, Arsenal with a focus on cheap and good youngsters, a lot of English players will be looking at Liverpool. We have a lot of positions where we can fill them in with better players. 2 recent events will further sway things our way, i feel.
1. The recent Champions League. Look at how far the top 4 teams have gone. We are a good bet till the quarter final or even semi final stage in this competition. Being able to have memories of beating teams in famous stadiums like San Siro, Nou Camp etc... Which decent player wun want such experiences? 2. The recent Euro 2008. Look at how Holland, Russia, Spain played. As an England player watching the action at home, surely you must be dying to be performing at such a stage. Can u imagine being a top players watching such matches only to turn up at your existing mid level club for pre-season? Boro is always struggling to survive, Villa asked Barry not to turn up for pre-season, Bentley is facing a new manager in Ince, who has no experience managing in Premiership. I won't believe that none of them ever not thought of joining a better team. |

i think we should move on to other players available on the market.
it seems that Aston Villa and Martin is holding on for a bigger amount. surely, after the Euro, quite a lot of players should be available.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Dear friend
SHARELIVERPOOLFC MOVES TO PHASE TWO Click here to re-register your support New website launched The original website where you registered your interest in ShareLiverpoolFC has been reconstructed, with much more detail about how ‘fan ownership’ would work and who is directly involved (and how group membership would work). It remains at the same address: Shareliverpool Football Club If you are still interested in the ShareLiverpoolFC project, it is essential that you return to the new site and re-register your interest - click here to re-register The software behind the new website will enable us to understand much more about who and, even more importantly, where our supporters come from. This is important, as we have to follow different rules when asking for investment in different countries. There have been 210 different nationalities visiting the website but we know little else about you. The situation at the club hasn’t really changed since you first signed up. In fact, if anything, the future of the club looks even less secure. It’s becoming clear that the level of debt being loaded onto LFC by Hicks and Gillett is unsustainable – eventually, something will have to give. So we need your support more than ever. We expect to keep in much closer touch with you by email from now on – and the website will develop interactively as time goes by. But don’t forget to go back to the site: ‘Return and re-register' We don’t want to lose touch with you. On the new website, you can also read about the other developments in the ShareLiverpoolFC project, and see what we’ve been up to since we launched. Many thanks for your interest in the ShareLiverpoolFC project – and thanks too for your patience. Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
miss this thread a lot... was away in london for quite some time and spent the whole day catching up on the posts...
a lot of excitement involving transfers but not much real movement... but just to update some of the interesting stuff i have seen and heard in london: 1. the vid that i had to watch everyday for the past 3 weeks. go to youtube and search for "ronaldo leaves utd" and watch... never fails to get my mood up... 2. the london teams all despise manure... for the same reason of the newly converted fans who were previously fans of other clubs. west ham fans in particular are given the mickey in london cos their manager is being accused of being ferguson's whore!!! 3. chelsea fans, while happy that their new "fans" have gone back to supporting manure (rich owner, so no need to sell so many shirts, i guess), they r wondering aloud why the new boss is trying to transform chelsea into portugal... didnt they get owned in the euros by a schweinstiger??? oh, he is rumoured to be going to chelsea as well. 4. tottenham... they r still buying midfielders and attackers, eh??? we r trying to guess which midfielder would convert to play in defence for spurs this coming season. 5. i m the only liverpool fan among my group of colleagues there. silva, villa and joaquin rumours... boy, m i excited. barry seems to be a very good addition, but at the expense of alonso??? haiz... robbie keane? now, i m estatic!!! my 2 cents worth, i would love to see barry, joaquin, robbie keane and stuart downing joining pool. crouch, as much as i love him and his amazing scoring record, is as good as gone but i do not want to see alonso leave. but thank god for riise, good riddance... forgive my ramblings...

I share your sentiments on Crouch & Alonso. Robbie Keane is not really a prolific finisher,to me Henry is a much better option if he is available. |

robbie keane on the other hand, i dont know... when he was with coventry (if i m not wrong) and at inter, he was more of a 1 dimensional scorer. but with spurs, he has matured into a very good team player. i see him looking to get his teammates into better attacking or scoring positions most of the time instead of looking for scoring opportunities as well. somehow felt that he complements torres better than most strikers, even villa, who is most certainly gonna be more expensive than pool can afford. however, that said, keane is also suspect on 2 accounts, his temperament and his proneness to injury. but 20 mil for him, unrealistic of spurs...

I'd be happy to take Keane - i.e. a player outside the top 4 in England who will be willing to play for us. He would add value, I think. Having said that, I haven't seen a genuine report saying we are interested in him yet. |

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
not much was really heard about downing, perhaps purely speculative. 10m only??!?
But i hope he will come, filling the hole an injury prone kewell has left us who will leave anfield. babel is not matured and I dun see him to be as great a player the reports are on him not in the future either. our brazilian defender made winger cannot fill that place either, and bunnytease has chose to opt out risse for that position anyways, we need someone that has performed well on the left wing; Downing, certainly. Come on Downing. we need ya. Selling Alonso and top up money for Barry? Oh well, bunnytease nv failed in lifting eyebrows eh. One thing for sure, Crouch's bid has been accepted now. Goodbye Crouch, u r tall but when the wind blows I worry for ur safety. Of late, the last few appearances, I sense maturity in him, being more stable and able to hold the ball. Perhaps he will shine in Porthsmouth. Goodluck. Players on Alphalaw's Wishlist: 1) David Villa (Dream on?) 2) Downing (come on!) Hopefully Barry does not come over, we are packed with midfielders. We need an excellent left winger who CAN deliver the goodies. In Benayoun? Bunnytease didnt even properly featured him.

Who's bunnytease? Your take on Benitez? Or you meant sister bunnytease, who happens to be a liverpool fan too? You posted something in sister bunnytease's thread so you definitely know who i am talking about.

Bro, Downing seriously underwhelms me. Has pace but not consistent enough for me. Agreed that Babel is best used as a sub in the early stages of the season. We do have a new leftback who likes to get forward so things look more interesting now.

I hope Downing, Bentley and Barry can come to Liverpool.
It will be very exciting to see them play.... It will definitely be a joy to see them play together !
