Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
And last nite, England has got past Denmark to compete against Italy in the Finals tis sunday with a score of 2-1 AET ...they r the team that attack more but they conceded their 1st goal in the tournament in a set piece ...chances of winning against Italy in the Finals to lift the Cup is 60-50 in their favour ???...most of the Italian players r old n don't hv the stamina to run fast enough n were pinned down to defend most of the time by Spain in the other semi-final...they r only depending to score on the break n against the run of play...

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
Done with the Euros, on to pre-season starting this Sunday. Rather worrying that our boys have had no rest. The somewhat 'good' news is that Greenwood did not join the England squad, while Rashford and Sancho were used only sparingly. Hope Maguire and especially Shaw do not experience fatigue...
As for the ins/outs - looking interesting... Jadon Sancho - already in the bag and due for his medical in Manchester. Four years we have chased and somewhat glad we didn't cave to the 108m demand last season. Utd have been paying premiums for far too long, just because of our name. Hope he can replicate his Bundesliga exploits in the Premier League. Raphael Varane - Permission granted to open talks on personal terms, though a deal is not a certainty with PSG also in talks. I was hoping more for Pau Torres, a quick and naturally left-footed centre back to partner right-footed Maguire. Varane does have bags of international and CL experience, so can't complain much. His age of 28 is still prime for a central defender, though Torres can probably give 5 more years than him, barring serious injuries. Declan Rice / Eduardo Camavinga - Lots of rumours flying around these two, but I think budget would limit us to Camavinga over Rice. Unless the rumours of Pogba to PSG are true. Both are young and either would make a great addition - Rice has the advantage of being proven in the Premier League but the premium he commands over Camavinga is a huge stumbling block. Ruben Neves' name has also been bandied around but I think those rumours are dying down. Harry Kane - rumours have started up (again!) but at Daniel 'Scrooge' Levy's asking price of 150m, we might as well swoop for Erling Haaland, who has age very much on his side. Apparently Martial will be used as makeweight, should a deal be discussed. Jack Grealish - the gaffer has long been an admirer of Grealish but we were priced out last season, after Villa managed to escape relegation. We have an embarassment of riches in attacking midfielders, but it might make a bit of sense if Pogba goes. City are rumoured to be after him and Kane too. If they succeed, they will take some catching... Kieran Trippier - rumours abound before Euros started, but seem to have died down a little. The idea is to give Wan-Bissaka some competition. I would rather they go for Denzel Dumfries, who looks solid and offers a great attacking threat as a wing back. Much younger than Trippier, who is already 30, going on 31 in Sep. Paul Pogba - rumours about him leaving every summer, and it's getting louder as he has only a year remaining on his contract and can go for free (again...) next summer. No doubt a brilliant player on his day - if only he can give more of these 'days'. Would definitely be a loss to lose him, but can be mitigated if we get Grealish or even Camavinga, who has already been likened to Pogba. Latest rumour is that Pogba is staying though, based on him modelling the club's new kit... Donny Van De Beek - his name keeps getting mentioned in swap deal rumours. Would be sad to see him go before he has gotten a proper go at it - can be brilliant on his day too but unfortunately has underwhelmed when he had been started this season. Anthony Martial - also keeps getting mentioned in swap deals. Hampered by injury this season after a good previous season. Still feel he can contribute more from the left wing and rotate with Rashford to share the workload. Would love to see our academy boys given chances this season as well. Elanga, Shoretire, Mejbri, etc. Apparently we have had a record number of requests for loan deals for our youngsters - which bodes well for the future. James Garner is in demand and Tahith Chong is already confirmed for loan to Birmingham City.

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
Looks like we won't be starting the season with a fully-fit squad. Guess Martial will start on the left wing then. Or Dan James. Late-Oct thru to late-Nov will make or break our season...
Manchester United hoping for Marcus Rashford's return for crucial October Premier League run Manchester United are hoping Marcus Rashford will recover from shoulder surgery in time to feature in a crucial run of fixtures for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side at the end of October, sources have told ESPN. Rashford is set to undergo surgery on his left shoulder after being hampered by it since November. The 23-year-old could be ruled out for as long as 12 weeks, but there is hope he could recover in time to play in a tricky stretch of games starting against Leicester in mid-October. After travelling to the King Power Stadium on Oct. 16, United face Liverpool at Old Trafford on Oct. 23, then Tottenham away on Oct. 30 before a home game with Manchester City on Nov. 6. United are also due to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Nov. 27 and Arsenal at Old Trafford on Nov. 30. Scans undertaken after Rashford's season ended with England's penalty shootout defeat to Italy in the Euro 2020 final have revealed that his shoulder injury is unlikely to heal sufficiently with rest alone, and an operation could take place before the end of the month. As well as struggling with his shoulder, Rashford has also been coping with a foot injury picked up in March. Despite playing through pain, he still managed to score 21 goals in 57 games. Sources have told ESPN it has been more than two years since Rashford played a game completely pain-free. https://www.espn.com.sg/soccer/manch...ue-run-sources

But luckily still get to see the 2 semis and the finals. Once again, England failed! Everything was set for england being crowned as Champions. The setting was Wembley, the fans were mostly English, they got the early goal...... When Italy got that equaliser....you know "it is NOT going home" Irony was Rashford and Sancho was sub in at the very end game so they could take the penalties......laughable both miss. Actually, why the fascination about Sancho??? Was he really that good? Im not impressed by him after the covid layoff. He looks fat n clumsy. Probably the shining light for England and Man U was Shaw got a fantastic outing in Euro 2020.

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
To win the league this season I think they need to sign 2 more players
1) Varane 2) Kane Kane personally would be tough I think But as usual I hope Pogba goes off… as usual don’t want sign new contract… why not sell him off for some money instead of letting him go for free next season

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
Squad is shaping up nicely. Still insufficient depth - as painfully exposed against QPR, but if everyone stays fit most of the time, should be able to challenge closer. Still tough to win the title, but should be closer. Probably need a specialist defensive midfielder if McTom can't hack it as a solo DM. Believe we will see Solskjaer experiment with Pogba/Fernandes further forward with only one DM by the last pre-season match against Everton, now that we have a pairing of Maguire/Varane. No budget for Declan Rice, so maybe we can swoop for Ndidi or Bissouma. Haaland next summer?

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
Yes, bro..u r right ...think it is a bad sign for them to lose n draw their 2 pre season games so far against lowly championship sides (QPR 4-2 n Brentford 2-2) even though it is w/o their regular 1st team players when their arch rivals can do so with their available squad

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
Yes, from wat OGS said...he is bot to pair with Maguire...as for Lindelof, think he will stay as back up in case varane is injured...think Pau Torres of Villareal is something like him...very nervous when defending
