Exciting?!? I was followed by a man while walking along Zhongshan Rd, heading towards McDonald's for lunch. When I confronted him, he replied in a girlish voice! Then I realised he's a gay! I told him I'm not a gay like him. He asked me how I knew he's a gay and I just any how said it's his dressing! Then he said he thought I was a gay because of my dressing! OMG! I was dressed in a tight body-hugging BODS singlet and bermudas. Is that how Xiamen gays dress? Hahaha!

Things u might do in Xiamen other than mei mei,

# Savour local delicacies such as shacha mian (noodles in soupy peanut sauce), rice dumplings with meat, peanut soup, and fish balls.

# Take a ferry to Gulangyu, and admire many of the unique European architecture on the islet. During summer, you may also consider heading for the West Beach (Gangzaihou), which is very popular among the locals.

# Visit the Xiamen Museum, housed in the "Eight Diagrams Tower". The building is a sight in itself as it incorporates a mix of architectural styles, including Roman, Grecian, Islamic and Traditional Chinese.

# Music buffs should not miss the Gulangyu Piano Museum which displays over 100 antique pianos, including the world's first square piano.

# Bring your children to the Marine World, and come face to face with some rare species.

# Pedal around the island. There's even a mountain bike / walking trail behind Zong Xin Guang Chang.

# Tee off at Kai Kou Xiamen Golf Club, designed by the Shark, Greg Norman. The golf course is just 30 minutes away from the city.

Do agree that Gulangyu is a really a "MUST GO" place if you visit Xiamen. Make sure you bring your video or still camera along. Picturesque island. I'd visited Piano Museum too. Good mix of rare collection.

I also tried the Sio Bak Chang stall along Zhongshan Rd (on the right side). Not too bad but beware of the fatty meat.

You can also cycle along the Huandao Rd and enjoy the nice sea breeze and sea view.

Another recommendation is the South Putuo Temple. Climb up the hill behind it and come down from the other side leading to the Botanic Garden.
