Few months ago I was in Ipanema (although I still find it sucks). Saw a pretty gal from I-don't-know-where and wanted to bonk her. But the mere thought that
1. I had to take her out,
2. get a taxi,
3. go to some hotel,
4. check in
made me already tired.

well said mankok. i guess their target audiences are the foreigners but locals are welcome too as long as they are prepared to pay the 'premium prices'. usually foreigners dun bother to bargain but locals will look at d price list 1st ... hesitate n then (pretend to) prepare to walk off before the ladies counter-offer. the ladies will usually quote u d normal price, but 'since u r 本地人, we give u some discount ... $xx 好不好?'.

Not true, a friend and I were there just last week. Think it was a slow week for them. But yeah we were just walking pass the shops. Been there a few times already, and all the lines I was there, I've never been not entertained. Not saying I yandao or what.
