I wonder why some people want to waste bandwidth for saying things that don’t contribute anything. I dare bet JC has never been to XiaChuan, or even know where it is since the extra info on the island would fill up his pea-size brain.

Anyway, soonsoon, IMHO the only time that is not so good to travel to XC is during the cold winter months when MMs are fewer, and also during the rainy typhoon season. It’s anybody guess when the typhoon will hit and the season runs anywhere from May to Nov, but probably most common around June to Sept. If you are not careful, you can get stuck on the island when the typhoon comes since the only way out is on the ferry – then again, it can be fun being holed up with your MMs – but possibly no electricity and no water!

As for the month of March, the weather has warmed up already but still can be a bit cool in the evening. I reckon it is probably the best time to go (I would prefer late March) with the warm weather and MMs wearing less, and before any threat of typhoon (first one can appear as early as late April). Xia Chuan Dao, a small island off south-west of GuangDong. This place is popular with Taiwanese, HK and few Malaysians. Very rare to see Singaporeans here. The place is truly relaxing if you're looking for a slow-paced or time-out space to chill. Since i went there in late November, the island was relatively quiet. Then again, there are still holiday makers around and business go on as usual. Time is aplenty for everyone there, so i spent much time gathering infos chit chatting with the locals.

The main vicinity of the island where you'll hang out stretches only about 500m by 500m, facing the beach. Within this area are the rows of hotels, F&B outlets, internet bars, shops & many bbs. There is only 1 atm here but it only can transact through Unionpay ie. Most, if not all, China ATM card would be able to use the ATM here. For foreign cards without Unionpay, you may NOT be able to use it so you will have to bring hard cash along. I've heard that new banking branches are being developed on the island but not sure when they would be ready.

Main attraction of this place:
1) Clean beaches, soft sand, beautiful scenery in the day, very romantic in the night.
2) All bbs (about 50-60 of them) are concentrated along two streets. Each houses anywhere from 5 to 250 depending on seasons. The gals are generally young and new in the trade. Majority of them come from Hunan.
3) The seafood here are fresh and cheap. Correction - Very cheap!
4) Several bars, ktvs, clubs where you can go for drinks and enjoy with your group of friends. I've only been to one so can't comment much on this section but i'd believe there are generally no hostess as patrons bring their own bbs gals.
5) Buggy rental costs about Cny 280 for 24 hours. Cost include petrol. You can ask them to bring you around the island where they will also explain the permitted boundaries where you can bring the buggy. Basically you can ride the buggy on any terrain except water ie. You can ride the buggy on the sands. If you rent it for a day, make sure you confirm with them you are not liable if it's stolen while parking it overnight outside your hotel. They will accept it since no one can bring it out of the island. You can also rent the buggy for one or two hours (not sure about the cost).

旺季Peak season: Summer (hotel rates: around 400-500 on average)
Many visitors including local tourists. Price for almost everything is much more expensive. Supply of gals, can you imagine, can go into thousands concentrated in a small place (according to the locals).

淡季Lull season: Winter (hotel rates: around 70-100 on average)
Mostly foreigner (TW, HK, Msia) visit the place for just one objective.
Food & lodging are super-cheap! Supply are gals are less.

Best time to visit: If cost is no issue, and you're okay with a crowded island, Summer would be the time for you. Otherwise try the beginning of Spring, when weather is excellent (not too hot), before it gets too crowded and hotel rates are still relatively cheap.

Transport:
- Direct bus from: 珠海拱北信禾车站 Zhuhai Gongbei Xinghe station TO 山嘴码头 Shangzui matou (2hrs);
- Ferry to 下川岛 Xiachuandao (half hr, latest boat leaves at 1730hr);
- Bus to hotel (half hour).

Journey 2 XCD is abt 3hrs of bus ride(70rmb)-boat ride(40rmb)-bus ride(10rmb),frm ZH.1st impression is tat the place is a beach resort+something like Batam.Hotel is not fantastic compare 2 ZH(180rmb).The hotel tat we stayed has a restaurant behind the lobby,a place 2 choose gals at the side of the lobby.
We reach tere abt 1200hr.Had our lunch,which was good & cheap,head out 2 hunt 4 prey.Search 4 quite a while,nothing was found,went 2 check around,found out tat tere are a beach volleyball competition going on,most of the WL dared not work,afraid 2 got caught on TV frm press who are tere 4 the competition.OMG,dun tell me we have 2 sleep alone 2nite.
Finally following 1 of my china friend(had been tere for 6 times),came 2 1 private appt.Wow....tere are at least 50 of them.All range were abt 5-7/10.Price 200rmb(ST) 400rmb(LT).
Service 4 my gal-Guizhou(she told me she is frm the Miao tribe)7/10,FJ 6/10.
Seafood was damn cheap in XCD.Good & fresh.The only minus pt abt XCD is maybe only the journey 2 tere.Would recommend 2 stay tere at least 2 nites 2 explore the place more.
Overall in XCD i spent abt 1000rmb for a 2D1N stay.

hey bro, sorry for late reply. Not very active on this forum... To answer your question, I would agree with Tiongkoklan. Spring would be the best time to visit. Summer is great but much much more expensive... During winter the place would be a ghost town... and if i remember correctly, many, if not all, hotels there have no heater there in the room. seems like the price for travelling to the island from ZH custom remain more or less the same since 2006.... same for hotel and even mm pricing

So the only things that can be done on the island are
1. book mm for company and bonk
2. relax on the beach
3. seafood
4. massage
5. internet

Just got back last night. Yan Tai in ZH is over. However, the Little Angles at LHL is not back yet and the sauna is not open only the traditional Massage is available but can go (LC Massgae) Chian Lia Sian An Mo to pay additional for Hand job.

XCD is much cooler than ZH as is an island, the girls quantity is not as high as before from one of the Operator not many girls are coming back after they left for the Mid Autuum Fest for Home available now example 10 left onlt 2 - 3 came back (arrive on island 28th Dec - 1st Jan 10) not many chio ones too (beautiful) not much taiwanese (maybe bad economy but defenitely it's worst than lasy year) price for babes remail RMB 200 short time and 400 overnight hotel rates on average from 90 to 120) facing the beach.

For night entertainment can try Ge Si Ta A local Karaoke joint with private rooms minimum charge from 200 with a 12 x (Big) bottle beer at cost about 190 the other hao le di not many people patron and is expensive the other Si Dai Fong Qin is under renovation.
