It certainly is possible but it's not necessarily cheaper to take them out. The official rate is quite expensive unless you work out an agreement with the girl or you really click in other ways. Thai culture is good at justifying this sort of lifestyle. Don't try to fully understand it you never will from an outside perspective. These girls become very hardcore emotionally even when they act all sweet.

Don't believe the story that they are supporting relatives or had to get involved in this trade. It's a myth. Probably a small percent do come from really poor families and maybe a larger percent send a little money back but most of that money is going towards mobile phones, gold, thai boyfriends/giks, car, condo, nightclubs, restaurants and other stuff like that.

It's not difficult to find a job in Thailand that pays an average low end wage but these girls are chasing big money. That's all there is to it. They work in a high risk occupation and we pay them for it. No guilt is needed.
