Was in chilling cold Shanghai and lonely. Browse the SBF and with so many recommendation of 999 club, decided to make a visit.

I is a very unique place constructed like a black box and most Japanese would like this place. Went in and was greeted here and there. Unfortunately Gao Yuen wasn't in this place any more.

Next to JC mandarin Hotel on Nanjing Xi rd is 'Bi Feng Tang' HKG Food Rest.....very prominent, u won't miss it! The HKG rest opens almost 24 hrs....
Walk farther down the street is Tongren Rd, junction of Nanjing Xi rd, turn left into Tongren Rd is the Street of Bars / Pubs where Bluefrog Bar, Manhattan Bar are...and many more. (a mere 5 mins walk...away from your hotel venue). One can go pub / bar hoppping for a night there.....or you can turn right at junction of Tongren rd, Nanjing Xi rd to Malone Bar (very much like Hardrock Cafe with US food served & beers)

Go across the opposite your hotel is Portamn Ritz Carlton hotel where Long Bar is with many whites (angmohs) goes to for Happy Hours....nothing fresh....
For a slightly better makan (Western) go to Element Fresh restaurant on the ground level of Shanghai Center (within Portman Ritz Carlton same bldg compound). NOTE: Renovation works now in progress so abit messy there....
Next to Portman Ritz carlton is the famous Plaza 66 where all international branded boutiques are...LV, Prada, Gucci, etc.....

I was in Shanghai 6 years ago with my dad for business trip and I had the several opportunities to score. Once, my dad’s business associates and us were having dinner at Shanghai and my dad’s friend was asking me whether I had any plans the following day since my dad would be working. I said no and he (my dad’s friend) was surprised and mentioned that one should never be lonely in Shanghai. Shanghai is changing so rapidly, even if u are a visitor once every few months, u will feel some difference! At least, I did, when I was away from Shanghai & returned after a few months! not to mention 6 years ago!

Now, it's easier for a lonely guy to be victimised, especially if u had tasted the sweetness few years back & still remininscing about that sweetness.

But again, it all depends on your luck. Just a reminder to be careful, Shanghai has really changed alot. Even lotsa ang mohs around are trash, exactly like those trash in their home countries, not like several years ago, most ang mohs are at least white-collar expats. Now, almost at every corner of the streets, at the corner of your eye, u can see ang mohs. Many of them oso sit by those unlicensed roadside vendors eating roadside food. But the "quality" of the civilisation of those ang mohs is another question mark.

You were not the only one caught up in freezing Shanghai this week. Went to Nakada a bit late on Sunday to warm up.

Bro, it is 50 years since.... I heard the heavy snow in 28Jan have not happen since China is opening up after 1949....
We are indeed lucky to encounter such heavy event.... Some people said something might happen this year... So strange that Guangzhou also have snow this year... Any fengshui expert here... hahaha
