not sure abt tourist n business visa but for kitas holders also 2.5 juta tax unless u hold a tax id (NPWP), then its free.

Yup you are right. try come to batam to take the boat out, cheaper. only 1 juta. I heard that the govenment jack up the price becos of the coming elections!!

It shows how bad the situation is and how desperate they are.

Been reading this thread for a long time was wondering how to meet up with the bro that are here in Jak only if they are fine with it. Just to meet up with new friends that are stationing here also. I have been staying here for awhile already living in Barat area use to take an apt in Taman Anggrek. Just give up my apt 8 months ago now currently looking for another apt.

Actually this is a conspiracy from government, any how this tax will be scrap few years later cause keeping protest by other asean country, now they only change the form of this extortion to another call NPWP. I wonder why Indonesia people can stand with this kind of government even Suharto-era has gone ?

Not that many get out of the country. Only the rich does. They claim it is a way to get people to pay their tax, which is PARTIALLY true. Here, we pay tax not by the books. They will agree on a certain amount, then the officals get to keep a portion. Win Win on both sides.

It is very difficult to tackle this problem.

I will in J-Town from 14/01 till 17/01. Anyone like to catchup for a game of pool or jugs of beer??? Been away for 8 months, really miss the "freedom" and "sexual liberation" I used to enjoy when I am here...
