My point after all this is... we got to take the good and the bad parts of Rafa's style of management. It stinks when he gets it 101% wrong like last weekend at Fulham. Then against the odds, suddenly we look like we can kick the shit out of any team man... That's rafa lar guys.. I'm not so sure if we should sack him. It doesn't make sense to throw the captain out of a sinking ship. We should be trying to steady the ship and plug the leaks instead of changing leadership in the midst of a crisis. Even Houllier was asked to leave only at the end of a terrible season, to minimise team disruption.

If we sack Rafa, will things be better, I do wonder? The worst thing to do is to sack him because we are angry with short term results. Why? Because the new manager will still have to deal with 2 stingy Yankees. Without any real transfer budget (Rafa only spent what he got from sales this season), will a new manager be better? So far, only Arsene Wenger doesn't built his success on big transfer budgets but his success really took seasons to build. Even MON at Villa spent a lot to build a successful team.

my humble 2 cents worth. still damn disappointed at what happened at fulham but only decided to type out my thoughts after 2 days.
ngog was injured, together with agger, sktrl, gerrard, johnson and aquilani down with flu.. plus a half-fit torres..

gerrard out of lyon match, rest still depend on late fitness test.. can our luck get worse?!

MON? wonder why people calling for him? he'd spent a lot and didn't really built a successful team, and his record in europe sucks...

i get the feeling that Rafa shall probably end up at Madrid by the end of the season...in this regard i am both fed up wif Rafa yet i can also empathise wif his position viz those damn bloody greedy Yanks...

it looks like things can only get worse for the Reds before it can start to get better...sigh...

anyways...i shall still be up in the wee hrs of the Thurs morning to cheer them on agst Lyon...come on u Reds...

Given the quality of our players, seems so logical to let other teams worry aout us by just playing to our strengths right? But somehow it doesn't happen to us. We will change tactics to negate a team (say Bolton), even if it means not playing to our strengths as a result.

I think all of us won't mind some consistency. I always feel...
It takes a lot of GUTS to bet on Liverpool's matches.
It takes a lot of HEART to be a liverpool fan. (Our emotions seem to be frequently more of a roller-coaster rider than supporters of other teams). High sibeh high, low sibeh low...

I better clarify. I'm not asking for MON to replace Rafa. I'm just saying that even Villa, a smaller team, spent more money on players than Rafa did in the last transfer window. So if Rafa is replaced, whoever replaces him will find it tough to build a good team, on the limited budget that the American shit-heads are giving Rafa each season.

Bro your tone is almost sombre, has the real Xgenre been kidnapped?

But seriously, I agree with most things you say. But on the matter of managing and tactics, you realise that Bolton can beat any of the top 4 on a given day (except Chelsea lah). Ditto for every other mid-table team. You can't assume because Bolton has a less expensive squad or are mid-tablers that we can just ignore tactics and expect to ride over them, because simply we have Torres, Stevie and all the stars. The BPL doesn't work like that.

So Rafa is only doing his job by preparing the best team to win the game in the best possible way.

Lest you call me pro-Rafa I think he still has to learn how to get it right in the BPL. It's about striking a balance between playing to our strengths and negating the opponents. Because you can't legislate, even with the best tactics, for individual errors, the influence of the crowd, the mistakes of the referees, and basically, the bounce of the ball.

WTF the Scum change their formations in attack and midfield all the time, but no one slates them for it, even when they lose or draw.

INSIDER NEWS FROM ANFIELD

Boss has been told that failure in the Champions League is not an option. The club needs the money from the CL and will have to sell their stars in the January transfer window to raise funds if they are out of the CL. The club kitty is virtually empty and staff salary and operating expenses still have to be paid.

Maybe that's why Benitez gave up on the Fulham game so that he can concentrate on the CL.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

did not watch the match.
indeed it is heartening, but Torres was again subsituted in the 87th minutes.
now the Reds's fate in the CL lies in the hands of Lyon and Fiorentina.
the Reds needs Lyon to beat Fiorentina in their next match.

overall i wld say the Red Men played quite well considering all the negatives in the last mth...Lyon were hard to break down...Babel's goal was a real gem...glad for the lad but really gutted that the Reds cld not hold on in the final 6 mins plus...think that greek CB Kryg is just too old n slow for the top league...btw i think Torres was taken off because of his nagging injury, he did look abit tired at the end...

anyways Reds probably need a miracle now to get thru to the next stage...what to do...i am just just taking each game as it comes fm now on...

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Its almost impossible for us to qualify now.

Lyon on 10, fior on 9, pool on 4. 2 games left. even if we win both, max points is 10. head to head we already lose on to lyon, so lyon actually qualify already.

If fior beats lyon but lose to us & lyon somehow lose to debrechen also:
Fior 12, Lyon 10, Pool 10 (Pool out)

If fior and lyon draw and fior lose to us, lyon lose to debrechen:
Lyon 11, fior 10, pool 10 (we through if we win by 3-0 since they beat us 2-0 previously). If we also win 2-0, then prob fior through on GD (currently they +5, we -2)

If lyon beat fior and we also beat fior:
Lyon 13, pool 10, fior 9 so lyon and pool through. So we need lyon to beat fior and ourself better not screw up.

Sigh....well, if we dun make (looking at above, chances are slim), hope one good thing will come out - sack rafa! Look at Lyon, they can lose their star player benzema and still do well. Man U lost not 1 but 2 key players and still doing significantly better than us.

That's a fair call from someone who actually saw the match. The will to win was all for there to see.

One day in the future, we are going to get back our late goals vs Lyon

So, best case scenario now?
Win Europa League and FA Cup
Finish 6th in the league
Yanks sell, Arabs take over.
Stadium recommences, Rafa gets GBP 50m.

Sigh...
