Brother nowadays I don't drive, I prefer to be driven around. Car sold already lah....no point driving around when taxis are so easily available. Also all my friends drive, so no worry about transport.

You can buy frozen curry at all the big supermarkets in Jakarta. No worries.
Anyway there is a new eating joint at Pejating Mall - 2nd level, near to Pasar Minggu where you can eat fresh pratas, char kueh teow with see hums etc. Nasi Brani also bery good comes with great south Indian curry. If you want naan also can get good naans at most of the Indian restaurants here.
Some of my recommendations:
Nasi Brani - Manhanttan Hotel Indian Restaurant
Prata - Pejating Mall
Char Kueh Teow - Pondok Indah Mall
Chye Tow Kueh - Pondok Indah Mall
Yew Char Kueh - Kam Seng Restaurant in Kota
Hakka Food - Kota area opposite Mailiboro (can't remember the name of the restaurant).
Bak Kut Teh - Ta Chia in Kota (besides Club 36)

like blursam said, which I tend to agreed, seemed like JKT are mostly exquisite cuisine. Impression (for me) is that the budget dish not worth trying...... either taste bad or can kenna poisoning one.....
