I love how well is staff trained in Batam. They are always smiling, but at times I wish I could use a gun to move them (kidding).

1) At Jco, I stand at the cashier for 5 minutes, before someone comes to me and says "closed, go to the other one". Of course, the cash machine was not off and everything looked ok. We were two queueing without attention.

2) At Jco, it is often impossible to convey the easy concept of "Double Espresso". They have an "Espresso Uno" and "Espresso Due" on the menu. There is also the "Extra shot" option, which means a full cup (3 single-shot espresso in one cup). Still, every time there is a new staff it seems we are discovering together the world.
Today I had to show him that ON THEIR MENU there is an "Espresso", there is the option "Due", and that is different from "Extra shot". I also had to explain him the prices.
Before that, he was still asking "Ice coffee?" and no way he could understand what is "Double".

3) This is the second time it happens to me. The other day I was sitting in Nagoya Hill at Food Street at the Bak Kut Teh place. I was sitting and nobody was coming. They were just looking at me. No service, no order taken.
After I while I sit waiting that someone comes to take the order, I try to waive my hand to call attention. The girl looks around. I waive my hand again. Then the incredible: she waives the hand to me and smiles like saying "Helloooo!". WTF!

Shuang Hong BKT, encountered this type of situation before and few times.
After that i start to approach the waitress first, tell her i need the menu then proceed to my sit. Maybe due to the table outside are shared by all the stalls.

He does not make me wait hours, but takes my phone and my photocopy of passport and disappears in the back. This is one of the times that being a kind bule with a bright smile brings some advantage. That queue was LONG.

After a while, he comes back. He confirms the SIM card was not registered, but he did it now. Now it works We try to call someone together. So good.

I try to complain for this new Indonesian thing about registration, that I come for 1 week, and every time I am supposed to throw away expired cars and repeat this Registration Ordeal at GraPARI. Surprise! He shows me a sheet posted on the wall:

UNTUK REGISTRASI SILAHKAN KETIK
*444*NIK*NOKK#

He tells me to enter my passport number as NIK and closing omitting NOKK, which is just for Indonesian. He keeps on confirming and saying "yes sure also for foreign passports, no problem".

I don't know if I should believe this or not, but he is sincere. Someone can try. If it works, at this point I would also say that one can enter ANY number, as I don't believe the system can check the validity of a passport of another country.

Just want to add something regarding the appearance of the tabao joints. Went for a recent work trip and was only free at about 8pm. Got info and map of top 5 recommended joints. Decided to walk since didn’t look far. Stayed at Formosa, started from number 1. Walked all the way looking for number 1-4 couldn’t see anything. Finally saw number 5, happy 8. Almost missed it. Girls left there not my cup of tea but with new confidence of how these joints look like on the outside proceeded to number 2, memory ktv. Found it this time, only 3 girls left but 1 suited my taste. And as advised by masters here, bargained, got my discount and left with girl. Got a free ride back to hotel also. I must say the owners are friendly and service orientated. The wifi in Formosa sucks. In this moment, I am measuring about 1 Mbit/s download and 1.6 Mbit/s upload. Yesterday I achieved 2 Mbit/s + 2 Mbit/s.
EDIT 05/05/2018: To be fair, today it was better: 4 Mbit/s + 4,20 Mbit/s.

On the MIFI with Telkomsel Simpati card, before I was achieving around 10-15 Mbit/s from my room in Formosa, yesterday around Nagoya Hill less than that, but however never less than 4 Mbit/s.
