My wife like to try all type of food in SG.Katong $$$$$,roast duck rice, mos burger, wanton mee, longtong, mutton soup, thai salad, thai food, chillie crab and etc but end of the day she still prefer to go back house cook and eat
IMHO, many VBs can't adapt into foreign culture because of their limited exposure to the outside world. To cite an example, the food. Most VBs can eat only viet food but not any other food. IF you let them eat jap food they cannot eat at all... it's simply they nvr got the chance to have jap food all their life. BUT i think this is not so applicable to VB from HCM or big cities.
my wife also very particular when it comes to food as well...
either only viet food or jap food...
food court foo not appealing to her...but have to slowly get her to get used to it...
when my girlfriend come sillypore, she also only take chinese cooked food (rice + 2 vege or meat) or viet food... any other food in food court or hawker don't suit her taste. But there are few vb i met are able to eat any kind of cusine
same same lor...when my wife is back in Sillypore with me,she everyday only eats mixed vege rice or bee hoon fish soup.i ever try to order other food for her to try,but she will stop eating after just 1 spoonful,LPPL i have to order for her bee hoon fish soup then i finish the other dish, ended up i always eat double...
even eating at well known restaurant such as Hoang Long in HCMC,she will always tell me that "food is nice but expensive, cooking at home is much better"
but my No.2 is totally different.....she can follow me to eat watever cuisine...e.g french, jap, thai, indian, korean etc.

i remember one time we have dinner with 2 other bros and their partner in a French resturant in HCMC. I order clamps/seafood for my girlfriend, she don't like the way they cooked but forced herself to finish it. After the dinner, she brought me elsewhere to eat clamps/seafood cooked in viet style.

Clam cooked in vietnam style? Do you mean "ngheu hap xa"? This one is a must-try in Vietnam. I have to admit it is much better than clam chowder.

i mean all those shell type of food. oc lan, oc ngheu, etc..
If your GF really likes Oc, you can bring her to Quan Oc (393 Tran Hung Dao). I am not a big fan of Oc, but they also sell anything that comes with shell such as shrimp, crab etc.

my wife takes most food in Singapore. From chinese to malay to western, my wife has tried everything. But she doesn't like western food much. When she cooks at home, she cooks chinese food (she learnt the dishes from my mother) but there will surely be a small plate of fish sauce with chili infront of her. My 3 children don't like vietnamese food, even when i brought them to HCMC, they still eat either chinese food or hamburger. They find fish sauce smelly... hahah.
My wife likes roti prata and tea with extra milk for breakfast. Other than that, she also like yang zhou fried rice. When i married my wife in VN, i have been bringing her for chinese food at Q5 often.
My wife is more adaptive to singapore and i am glad.
