Re: Sales People for China, Hong Kong and Taiwan
QUOTE=oakleyeug]Guys,
Do not despair, I was also in IT the last time round and worst my job is in Pacific Internet doing those helpdesk thingy. I also search for opps to post out of Singapore, not it is easy but it also depends mostly on fate. Wish you guys all the best in IT.
hi guys, Nowadays, it is getting difficult to get Expat postings to China or other countries. Big MNCs are getting smart and getting people to accept local packages. I had received 6 figure annual pay in Singapore in 2005, but accept a relocation to Shanghai on a foreigner package with reduction in pay of 30% after tax with the pay in RMB because of the cheebye China govt taxation system. I just wonder we had been paying the govt so much for nothing, no social benefits whatsoever. And the forever RMB not re-valuing to at least 20% - 40%, gan the Chena govt. Now receiving only a high 5 figure annual pay. The rationale of most MNC is that the cost of living is low in China, but if you see Shanghai, the cost of living is not really that low and can be coming close to singapore. (But for raw materials like raw food, not pre-cooked food, it is much cheaper lor). Fortunately last yr, most of my time spent overseas but receive Chena pay. Only this yr, come back to SH. Now I am thinking of going back to SIN and get the singapore pay and spent most of my time traveling. (Business travel on company expense ma) Like that save more money. Nowadays, China IT managers are also quite well paid. Their pay are about 50% - 75% that of singapore pay. But think of the cheaper expenses here like cars, raw food (for cooking), plenty of cheap restaurants, etc as compared to sillipore. But I must admit there are also even more poor people here in China than the middle class. But the IT managers are quite well paid that they did enjoy a life here in China (Just don't go buy that expensive LV bag or any branded goods lor, no point ma) The woman are also cheaper here with good quality. I had been to quite a number of small cities with shots of Y100 before, like 新昌。That's the only thing that attract me here, haha.. There are more pretty faces to select from. So if you consider working overseas, you have to think and calculate carefully. |

So if you consider working overseas, you have to think and calculate carefully.
Yo Bro Cockanadoo, Greetings and totally shared your sentiments as mentioned! A well said & shared post here to all of us........................ Indeed at present, the job opportunities being offered by many MNCs are not that favourable, enticing most of all not to mention that the offer are getting more & more localise in terms of perks and on wage aspect. Perhaps, what matters most now for all is to have a job, to survive! That's my perosnal sentiments about it. Yes I shan't deny the fact that perks do play a very important part especially having to be overseas, facing all cultural differences, most of all having to part with family & friends back in homeland. But sad to say, nowadays there isn't anymore a 'Hardship Allowance' term in most MNC's contract to expats no more. A very saddening fact but true...it happens to most of my peers as I saw. Also, the Tax Equalisation term is still being imposed on most expats contract as I know. The Tax Equalisation term is a percentage off your after taxation wage here basing on one's homeland taxation percentage. I'm having that term, and every month a 10% off. It might sounds abit, yet in terms of a total of 12 months it adds up to qiite a fair amount, especially in USD$! Yet, as I mentioned earlier herein, it's the ultimate contentment of having a job still that matters to me. This is the compromise I have & will to face. Just a word of personal innermost shared sentiment to all bros who intend to explore further here as a expat here in Shanghai, in China.....lots of sacrifices to be made in terms of domestic aspects, much pyscological preparations to be made for, and most of all, reality courage to be bulid within oneself. Best wishes to all bros who are intending to, or already going to and who are already here on your future endeavours.........in Shanghai and in all parts of China! Cheerios..................
